AHI Mysteries #2 : Parachuting Fantastic Four

Another l'il mystery I found in doing research for "Rack Toys" this one is from the 1979 catalog, a time when AHI seemed to renewing their interest in superhero items.

These Fantastic Four parachute figures appeared in the 1979 catalog along with new characters like the Incredible Hulk and Captain America.

It's pretty logical that AHI would pick those characters seeing as all of them had tv deals in one way or another. In the FF's case, it was an NBC TV cartoon series (the one with H.E.R.B.I.E) that was a pretty big deal.

Seeing these mocked up figures makes me wonder if they ever saw any sort of release? I kind of hope so as it would give me more reason to hit the flea markets....

I've never seen hide nor hair of 'em, just like the Captain Marvel from the mid seventies, though these look much more closer production figures than that one. It sure would be col if they did exist.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! I honestly figured there was no way these were produced. That's super cool. Did you sell it online or at a show?

Ghost Rider was definitely made. Brian's featured it on PS before.

(off model) Fantasticars were done by Fleetwood, as was Ghost Rider.

And why does Reed need one? He can turn himself into a parachute.

Sue can project a force field to protect herself or just slide down on an invisible construct.

Ben's the only one who'd be screwed.
