    Watch your Step

Just got back from a mini vacation this week in the Smokies.
As the Wife and I were on a trail we were warned there was a rattler up ahead. I'm glad we had received the warning because I would have been right on top of him if I had stayed on my side of the path.

Here is a pic. By this time a crowd had developed at the trail, and the snake was doing his best to get out of there.

Wow! That is scary! I don't think I would have even gotten close enough to take the pic!

After the pic we ran past that point and continued on our hike.

Well, you got a great story from your hike.

phhh, big deal. I see snakes every day at work. This week, the list included a coral snake, two indigo snakes, plenty of black racers and a cotton mouth.

I've only had one snake on my property that I felt compelled to remove, if I saw a Western Diamondback, I would be on the phone to animal control immediately (and staying somewhere else until they came). I have seen some out on some hikes in the desert which isn't as scary as seeing Eastern Diamondback in the woods, it just seems creepier that you could step on one so easily in the underbrush.
