For those odd few following this saga:
Mr and Mrs Megotu and the two little Megotulings are packing up the truck and moving to Houston.
I, Megotu, got a new job with the Cty of Houston at the Houston Emergency Center as some kinda 911 Call Center Supervisor Fire/Medical. I KNEW those fake resume skills would come in handy someday. I am starting June 4th, ad I pick the truck up on 5/29. I plan to spend jut aout all that day packing up and probably Wednesday too. If all goes as per plan, I roll out from Long Island on Thursday 5/31 at about 4 AM to avoid any and all traffic. I figger I can be through Jersey before the real backups start happening. After that it is just 26 hours of open US Highway and then Houston. If all goes Really well, I can turn the truck in Sunday night, get the bed put together and get some leep before I start my first shift.
Yeah, SOME people plan things out MONTHS in advance, with back-up plans and contingincies. I call them yellow-livered panty-wearing Nancies!

Actually it's from Long Island, New York to Houston. And I did spend the first 30 years of my life in the Dallas area.
If all goes as per plan, I roll out from Long Island on Thursday 5/31 at about 4 AM to avoid any and all traffic.
I will lay even money against your being on the road by 4PM on Thursday. Hope I am wrong, and you have a safe trip. Remember, no letting the kids drive.

I feel like I should warn the native Houstonians.
Sort of like an Amber Alert.
This time an ASSHAT Alert.

The Mrs. Megotu and two Megotulings will be flying down Friday morning via JetBlue. 144 a ticket for two seats, the boy rides in the lap since he is under 2...Despite his being as tall as the average 2 year old. They arrive early Friday afternoon, sign the lease, pay the rent and immediately check into the La Quinta Inn for some nappage. If I am reaaally lucky, I will be rolling in late late Friday night and I can just park the truck there and shower. I am gonna try and get 13 hours a day of driving in.

Congrats on the new job Bill! Good luck with the move and safer.
I haven't drive in Houston for long time because of heavy traffic! :wall: But before 4:00PM on Tuesday will be slow down and less heavy traffic, hope it's helps. I heard the most Houstonain get off work every 4PM to 6PM will be in very heavy traffic.
So, I drive outside of circle Houston highway, it's easier the other way street and roads, I don't pass thru center Houston. If so, I might be lost there! I had lost there few times and I went to the store, I asked for helping me out how I get easier way to my home safer, it's works.
Be safe trip and have fun! :cowboy:
I live close by Southeast Houston, can I visit with you sometimes?
