    Star Trek crew boots

I was just looking at some of Hotfoot's pictures of his Star Trek figures and it reminded me of something. As a kid I hated that Mego had made the Star Trek boots as part of the leg. I would have preferred the black hero boots on the Star Trek figures than having pre-molded boots. Any idea why Mego made the Star Trek boots that way?

And poor Lt. Uhura doesn't get to be part of the males-only "authentic" boot club.

I don't know if I buy the notion of the cost of three pieces of plastic. Mego made dozens of boots and even character specific boots when they really didn't need to do so.

Paramount's insistence sounds more likely. Although I would be surprised if they did.
