I was late the whole "Hoss Experience" but I'm going to go on record and say it's never done me wrong and I'll miss it.

I'll miss it too. It reminded me a lot of Ponderosa where I worked in high school. I looked forward every year to facon bits and 100% unnatural pudding. Seriously, I did. I am surprised at the decline in business with all of the construction around there.

I think it was me, I picked all the onions out of french onion soup, yet i ordered onion rings as a side. THAT DOES NOT COMPUTE!

Will miss the chance again!

Wow, it says it closed June 14. We got it in right under the wire for the "last meals." Kind of surprised business would be declining in that location since you would think they would get the hotel traffic year-round.

I'm glad I got to eat there at least once. The salad/food/desert was good but the service just wasn't there. I wonder if the people going to the Marx show this weekend are missing it as well.

... but the service just wasn't there.
Maybe they knew they were being fired and just didn't care.

Everyone meet me at the Outback Steakhouse in Orlando, Florida this weekend.
I'll splurge and buy the first round of drinks.

Could be all the experienced staff had already walked too. Sometimes the newbies never see the writing on the wall and end up going down with the ship.
R.I.P. Hoss's we'll miss you.

The Hoss's in the article..is it really the one in Wheeling by Super8? It mentions Elm Grove or something...
either way, the chances of the one by the Super8 being gone next year were pretty high.

wow just under the wire!!!
their salad bar was great, cold crisp greens! the steaks were hit and miss. that's what you get when cooking a 3/4" cut, very easy to turn to shoe leather. all in all i was never disappointed . . . .
I ordered fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy (figuring it would be hard to screw that up). They did.
However, my boys enjoyed a fine dinner of gummy bears, marshmallows and ice cream.

It is. Edit "Elm Grove" is actually a neighborhood of wheeling. Even though it's a separate building Hoss's was consodered part of the "Elm Groove" shopping center where the grocery store is.

It was my first big dinner with the whole crew, so good service or not, I will always have a very special memory of Hoss's!

The exit sign for the Krueger museum/Super 8 says Elm Grove.

The MegoMeet neighborhood is called Elm Grove. I think it used to be its own town but got incorporated at part of Wheeling in, like 1928 or something. During the meet I read in the local paper said that Elm Grove collected more taxes than any other neighborhood in Wheeling last year. I think Hoss's is successful, it's just that they lost the lease to the building. Maybe a new Hoss's will open somewhere else in the area. Maybe a Denny's or something will open in that location.
