So, I'm walking yard sales on Saturday and I see a box of stuff marked "Free" on the curb. I root through it, find a couple happy meal toys that look cool, and then, at the bottom, is this:
It's a 7" doll/figure from Mattel, 1979, not really articulated but Mego sized, Mego like rubber head mounted on similarly to the Remco McDonalds.
IT'S A MUTANT HIPPOPOTAMUS GIRL WEARING A CORSET.
I'm creeped out by it- and yet, strangely fascinated. A little research reveals it's from a short-lived line of dolls called Gorgeous Creatures. There's a cow, a horse, the hippo, & a pig.
Obviously someone at Mattel was high one night and caught Miss Piggy on the Muppet Show. He in turn convinced an equally stoned product development board to ok the creation of these abominations of nature.

Anyone else ever come across these? I find myself wanting to hunt them down, simply because they seem so bizarre!
