I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum; I've browsed them and the site for a few years and think they're great!

I guess my joining now has to do with receiving the repro Star Trek figures recently. All I can say is THANKS! They're great and something I never thought I'd see.

I started out collecting Megos in the early 70s with the Action Jackson figures and from there went to WGSH, Planet of the Apes and Star Trek.

Most of the original figures, other than the Star Treks, fell victim to play. Well, what would one expect, we were kids! Firecrackers, burying, burning ... you name it. And those that managed to survive were probably tossed by Mom when I wasn't looking (sorry, Mom!)

However, sometime just before I got my last Star Treks (the non-metal wrist jointed ones) I fortunately became old enough to appreciate them for their aesthetics rather than their blow-up-ability. I still have these to this day (with most of the original silver insignias still in place!) along with some stray POTAs. Unfortunately, I never found most of the rarer aliens (which is another reason I'm so psyched about the re-issues).

So, flash forward 30-plus years and here I am today ... with more action figures than I ever owned as a kid.

As I'm trying to regain figures I originally had as a kid ... along modern issues of favorite characters (Batman, Superman, Universal Monsters, The Beatles), my Mego collection isn't that extensive. Chances are that if I didn't have it then, I'm not that interested in having it now (with the exception of the rarer ST aliens). My other retro interest is Captain Action, which I was pleased to see brought back in '98 ... only to disappear again. At least on that go-round I was smart enough not to set him on fire.

Anyway, I'd just like to say hello to all the other collectors and perpetual adolescents (I mean that in a good way) out there!

This place must be over that 1400 member total at this point. And to think I was the 28th person to join this place when it started back in 2001 (I checked the member list).

Thanks everyone for your gracious welcomes! I really do feel at home here ... actually it's more like I've stepped back in time to the world's greatest toy store of the 70s. I'm loving it!
