8" KISS pics/body comparisons pic heavy

OK - so the Figures Inc KISS are showing up and everybody wants to know about the new body. There is good and bad news.

Bad news first - still made out of a lighter pvc material and strung in an X configuration that makes the torso want to turn sideways. Difficult to get them to hold a Rock God pose. Note that the same thing happens with other modernMego bodies that are strung this way.

Good news - different pelvis than the earlier ctvt pelvis. Looks like they shrunk down the 12" body and copied the pelvis from that. They also copied the hands which is really cool imho. You can restring the body and it will behave.

Best news - the heads, paint application, and outfits are absolutely fantastic. Really amazing how much detail is jammed into the face paint on these tiny heads. Ditto for the outfits. Super attention to detail and they are put together well for having so many crazy parts on them.

I took some shots of opening the boxes and some pics of the figures and their makeup.

Some shots of the Cat coming out of the bag; along with some pics of the tray and ties and all of Peters outfit parts.

OK - the new ctvt body compared to the older one and also to a regular t2Mego. And a last group shot of all the different choices you have to change him to if you want to do such a thing.

There are some good things about this body. There is a new pin for the hip that is very cool and unbreakable. The shoulder joint was redesigned as well to have a slot and a different type of attachment for the metal hook that the band attaches to. It is nifty as well, tho I don't like how the pin protrudes out of the shoulder.

I am going to try a restring ala T1 next and will report back on that one.

Oh - I also got in some 12" I will have to post up pics of those at a later time as well.

have a GOOD time - rche

Neat! Thanks for the pics. Anybody know if these going to be sold at Toys R Us?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I forgot to add that the black ink is leaching into the softer vinyl of the hands and feet.
I've seen several modern toys with this issue cropping up. PM Captain Actions, Flatt Draculas, RA Green Lanterns. Usually it is the black on the costumes, but I think someone reported that the red on the Dr Who was doing the same thing.

Anyway - you might want to make sure the wristbands aren't touching the hands on the Paul and Peter figures.

I also forgot to add that the headsculpts seem to be shrinks of the Mego 12" versions. EXEPT for Ace. Either that sculpt got lost in translation in the shrink, or there is a new sculpt for him. Both Paul and Peter look to be the same 'reused' head sculpts of yesteryear. I will have to do a comp shot of the Ace heads - vintage, new 12", and new 8" to verify whether the sculpt was used or not.

I don't think these are going to mass market brick and mortar. They may make it to a specialty shop near you, but mostly seem to be with Figures Inc (CTVT), and online retailers like myself.

Thanks for the pictures! The should pin actually give the arm more articulation than a standard mego.

I like the pin in the arms shoulders.

...., Outside of paint aps...., the Faces really don't look like them under the paint from the pics. Just Generic sorta...., I expected a touch more there. Paul Stanley is way off big time, looks nothing like him without the paint.

The original Mego figures were not sculpted as the likenesses of the members of the band. These are shrinks, to the best of my knowledge, of those original heads. Paul looks nothing like himself because he is the Captain.

Apparently, the entire thing is shrunk from the 12" dolls, including the body. The shoulder construction is the same as the Mego 12" figures, which I feel is superior to the way Mego did the 8" figures. That is a pretty cool surprise..
I don't know what to think about the hair yet. I'm not convinced by the pics.
The heads look more or less like the original heads, although Paul's head looks elongated to me.
All in all, I think they look pretty good. It was a smart move to make direct repros of the original figures in 8" style. Now I'm looking forward to perhaps sculpted boots, strong likenesses, and different costume styles.
Expectation is the death of discovery.

The pics of the prototype heads didn't look like exact shrinks. I remember Paul was missing the Captain's molded hair.

                            [Edit]

                            Here's the pics.
