Movie and T.V. bubble gum cards..

What movie and T.V. bubble gum cards did you collect. What sets did you or do have?
I had Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Empire Strikes back, Kiss etc. I used to get them from our Ice Cream Man or our local woolworth's.

All of the above, Charlie's Angels, Partridge Family, BSG, just about any TV Show. Still trying to complete some sets, like I only need a handful of Star Wars, CAs, & Partridges.

Dukes of Hazzard, King Kong and the first set of Star Wars were the ones I collected (with a smattering of KISS, Charlie's Angels, Garbage Pail Kids thrown in).

Always picked them up at the pharmacy if I had any $'s left over on weekly "comic book" day.

I was in my thirties before I went back and found the handful of cards I'd been missing from each.

Star Wars were the first ones that I collected as a kid. After that, The Hulk (TV show), Rambo, Close Encounters, The Black Hole, etc. Basically, I'd pick up whatever they had at the store when I had a little extra money. Then when Garbage Pail Kids hit, I really got into those. I kept collecting cards through the early to mid-1990s when I was really into Sandman and Marvel cards. In the late 90s, I had pretty much stopped, but I did get into vintage KISS and 1960s Batman cards around then. I have all of the 1st series KISS cards now, but I'd still love to get more of the 1960s Batman cards!

These days, the only cards that I actively pursue are the Mego Museum / Plaid Stallions cards and the other awesome toy cards produced by people here! (and 60s Batman) Aside from those, I still have lots and lots and lots of cards from when I was heavily into them in the early 90s, so I'm always looking to trade my duplicates for stuff that I don't have. Since most of what I have doesn’t seem to be at all in demand, I just end up trading with other people in the same boat that I’m in. ”Well, these cards aren’t worth anything, so I can’t sell them…I guess I’ll just keep trading until I get a complete set!” Haha!
Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be.

I remember collecting STTMP, Star Wars, Tron, Pac-Man and Kiss. I still have some of my Tron cards.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Wow! There was lots that I collected and bought and still have to this day.

Here is a small list just to name a few off the top of my head. Not even including sports cards of course.

I collected and bought most of mine mainly in the 70's and 80's when I was a kid. I can still remember to this day going to the flea market every weekend and going to particular stands "card dealers" and paying .15 to .35 a pack for cards. Those were the days.

                    Star Wars
                    KISS
                    Charlies Angels
                    Closed Encounters
                    Battlestar Galactica
                    The Incredible Hulk
                    The Black Hole
                    Jaws
                    James Bond - Moonraker
                    Superman
                    Dukes of Hazzard
                    A- Team
                    Planet of The Apes
Star Trek - The Motion picture

I even collected Elvis for my Mom for whom was a big fan.
Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

My mom was notoriously cheap and wouldn't buy those for me. Then when I was a teen, my little sister went through a love affair with E.T. and wanted all the trading cards,...and mom started buying them! I cried foul and mom also bought E.T.trading cards for me. It didn't really make up for the lack of KISS or Star Wars cards a few years before. But I still have my entire set of E.T. cards tucked away in a drawer.

Well for me I think the Partridge Family were the first that I really collected along with Wacky Packages. After that it was almost everything:
                            Star Trek ( 1976 )
                            Star Wars
                            Charlie's Angels
                            Superman The Movie
                            Empire Strikes Back
                            Hulk tv series
                            A-Team
                            Superman 2
                            Return of the Jedi
                            Battlestar Galactica
                            Batman ( the 1st movie )
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
                            King Kong

Almost everything is gone now. My collecting ended during the Return of the Jedi. Those were good times and I've been thinking about them recently myself and was think about doing a post about them. It was so much fun being able to go to a local Mom & Pop store and pick up a pack of cards, sports or non sports for .15 -.35 cents a pack. Now-a-days IF you can find cards being sold somewhere, they cost $2.00 - 3.00 a pack - the fun of being a kid is gone, it's a collector world now in cards and toys.
