Kelly sent in this great picture of a Spidey appearance circa 1978. We've had dozens of Spider-Man appearances over the decades but I can honestly say, this is the most adorable one I've ever seen.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
Marvel always seemed to hire people who actually fit the build of Spider-Man. I've yet to see an official Spidey that didn't look like he just stepped off the comic page.
As I understand it, there was one actor who did many of the big appearances, for almost 20 years. There was an interview with him in Wizard years ago. I don't think they ever gave his name or showed his face.
That is probably the cutest pic in all of the Mall Appearances.
Great shot! Yeah, Spdey's back then tended to look pretty good. They had that Electric Company feel to them. Perhaps Marvel had it officially license to look that way for personal appearances? Nice pic though.
And to think, we were all little spidey fans at one time. And we never outgrew it. I'd scare the hell out of him today if i went to sit on his lap though.
