When i'm watching a TV show and a commercial comes on.....
Like many people, I surf ........
Only thing is EVERY station runs commercials at the exact same time.

Just wondering if it's a global conspiracy

TBS was pretty cool back in the 80's -- starting their show's at 5 minutes before the hour ........ But today, it seems even TBS has been taken over by the brain slug :smiley1:

Forgive my rant -- but with one million channels, how do they all seem to go to commercial at the same time ?

Makes one wonder ;)

Sitcoms and the such are broken into 15 minute segments, since the shows start the same time its logical the commercials would hit at the same time.

I too miss Turner time.

If I remember correctly, they actually started everything at 5 minutes past the hour...

We've been keeping tabs on you for a long time now Mike.

You probably didn't even notice these two agents that have been tracking you.

We have very sophisticated undercover abilities.

It's just that for every 3 minutes of show there are now 6 minutes of commercials, so the odds are now more in favor of catching commercials while channel flipping than actually seeing a program.

It's kind of funny watching shows on DVD. When you watch old Trek episodes, the credits roll around 51 minutes on the counter. Modern shows around 39 or 40 minutes. Ugh!

What's even worse is the way TV stations have it set so the volume during commercials turns way up compared to normal programming. Your watching the show at normal volume levels and as soon as a commercial comes on, it seems like the volume almost doubles...drives me crazy.

I've heard that in the past.....

I'm pretty sure it's not the TV station's fault.......

It's the cable company...

They're not actually doing it on purpose--- It's just they don't know (or don't care) how to regulate sound from local commercials bumping on top of pre-existing ones.

Since moving to Nashville, the commercial volume will blow you out of the room. It drives me insane

Three letters my friends. Three simple letters to take all your woes away.

PVR

Even when I watch Football live I let it record for half an hour or so before I watch the opening kickoff. It builds up enough time for me to fly through all of the commercials.

The only thing is if a buddy phones during the game, before he gets a chance to say anything, you will often hear me saying, "Don't tell me the score, don't tell me the score".

Though it is logical that they all have break at the same time because of how shows start on the hour and have breaks every 15 mins - it is beneficial to each entity that they all do this to disuade the practice of channel surfing.

I actually watch TV for the Commercials...too bad all those darn shows keep getting in the way! :silly:

My favorites are all those pharmaceutical commercials that are aired constantly. I keep a list by the TV so I can ask my doctor if "DRUG NAME" is right for me!!! So much for a drug free America.

What makes this even more annoying is when the same ads are on every channel..during the same breaks....if i see one more "accident at work" or insurance ad......

I have the NFL Sunday ticket and it is amazing how many times I try to flip from game to game and they are all at commercials. I guess what I am saying is the NFL is part of this conspiracy to!!

It's even better listening to the side effects especially with some of the drugs that treat certain conditions that is probably best to talk to your doctor about in private but I guess I'm just old fashioned that way.
