Nope. Not original in the slightest. The head is repro, as is the mask and gloves. Not even sure if the belt and shoes are authentic. But no, he is not original by any measure.

I am trying to improve at spotting repro parts on megos, but my skills are not up to yours yet. So, can you take a moment to teach a padawan?

Before reading your post I figured...

The belt is wrong because RM Robin comes with an elastic belt.
The R emblem looks to crisp to be original
The shoes are a bit shiny for me to buy into them being original
The shirt looks a bit too crisp around the snap; need a closer look
The body appears to be a type 2 and RM Robins are type 1 if I remember right

How could you tell visually that the head was repro?

The R on the logo is the right shape for an original cloth logo though.

If the condition appears to pristine to be true, it's more than likely repro. The paint job on the repro Robin head is just different enough from the original. There's also a "DM" stamped on the back of the neck. repro parts are sometimes but not always, marked with a "DM" or a CTVT."

First and foremost, the eye brows are painted wrong and the skin tone is too dark. If you look at a true RM Robin, the brows have a specific shape that are arched in a specific way which are also fairly short. This sample has all the common paint errors with the brows and general skin tone indications of a reproduction head that I see all the time.

I believe the darker skin version of Mego robin was the 1976 - 77 edition ? with painted mask, green sleeves. :sarky:
