A terrific addition today to the Megomuseum Galleries (http://www.megomuseum.com/gallerymap/index.html), the extremely rare Mego Comic Action Heroes Batmobile Set (http://www.megomuseum.com/heroes/comicaction/batmobile.html). This is without a doubt one of the rarest Superhero toys Mego produced, few boxed examples have survived.

Wow, I didn't even know this existed for CAH. That's a pretty good example for such a rare piece. Thanks to whomever donated these shots. Minor point, but there are some typos in the line discussing the "figures in flat (?)."

sooooo minor when compared with the total entry. It really is an impressive addition to an already impressive tome.

Oh man, that is drool-worthy. Having the World's Finest in one set like that would have made my day as a kid.
I got my Pocket Heroes Batmobile in a giftset with Batman and Robin. I've always wondered why Mego changed over to the more traditional windshield for the Pocket version?

This is actually the first picture I had ever found of this set, I can no longer find the whole picture or the site but as I recall this set (and all the memoribilia) belonged to George Barris (who of course, built the Batmobile).
Since then, I met one other collector with the set (his has WW and Superman) , who kept raising the price on me. It wasn't done to be greedy, it was done because he didn't really want to part with it.

So my memory was right, thanks a lot for confirming that. I actually toyed with emailing him and making an offer on it but kind of figured he really wouldn't be interested.

After I drooled, I thought "Those should be in glass cases, he stores them like they're junk" but then i realize he likely bought them all when they were new and plentiful, so they are junk to him.

Looks like there is a thick layer of dust on the shelf there. They really should be in glass! But I'd guess you are right on Mr. Barris' thinking there.

I remember seeing this on the shelf as a kid and wondering why it didn't have the exploding bridge and Joker. Seemed like a rip off to my kid eyes. Now, not so much. Great score, Brian.
*sigh* Another cool piece I'll never own *sigh*
But just seeing those pics is good enough for me

Darkmonekygod,
I too saw quite a few of these on shelf as a kid and I do recall it was in late 1978 near christmas. It was at Toytown in Rosemead, Ca. I know my cousin got one for christmas, I ended up just getting a spiderman, an army soldier from another line similar and some star wars figures.
"If I knew then what I know now!"
Toytown was by far the best toy shop to go even though TRU was around the corner next to Farell's. I miss that place and they always had a better selection of toys, especially Star Wars and Mego. Only thing is that it was overpriced than TRU so my parents would take us to TRU. Of course I would always vote for Toytown.
Living in Hollywood, I would call Toytown about twice a week to see what was the latest star wars assortment that had arrived. Huge phone bill!
Even back then I was calling all toy shops to see who had the newest assortments. TRU, Bert Wheeler's on Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood Toys and Hollywood Toys on Sunset. All Mego and Star Wars. Sorry for the digression. Just living in the past for a moment.

Don't apologize for that disgression, that's what we're about.
