    Toys that fight back

Leave it to the Japanese to improve upon a standard north American toy, the boip bag. Unlike our defenseless versions which teach children nothing, Japanese children threw punches with the knowledge that Ultra-Man might give them five across the eyes for doing so. Well done land of the rising sun!

And if you were a lonely child, Ultraman could hug you...

'Improved upon a standard' or aimed at a different age group? In different districts of North America the blow up doll is a common sight... Oh what they could do with Godzeera... "Monsta! Monsta!!"

What a great idea, way better than the bop bags we had.

I would buy them all and make room to display each and every one.

Bought a smaller, armless one of these for my grandson. Unlike the old days, you now put water into the base. Messy to fill, but works well. Until it gets bitten by the dog and leaks all over the carpet anyways!

These were huge in Hong Kong during Chinese New Year (imagine rows and rows of them by the dozens... in formation like the terracotta warriors). I'll have to dig out the pics of my brother and I with the ones my grandfather bought us... (Mazinger and Dangaurd Ace). It broke my heart that I couldn't bring it back to Canada with me (the base apparently added too much weight to it our luggage). I think my cousin Gigi ended up with it, but she claims to have no memory of it when quizzed a few years back about it.

I'd love to see pics. Mazinger and Danguard Ace bop bags would have been epic. Do you remember what year they would have come out? Really sucks that you couldn't bring them with you.
