Wow i can't believe he went to the Jets. I don't see NY being a good place for him at all. The media alone will pick you apart, then you have the fans. Really shocked he is a Jet.

they have Sporano over there now, and he likes the wildcat so it makes sense, and for a 4th rounder you can't go wrong... good move for them but I still hate them

Theres nothing I like about the Jets. They should have sent him to Jacksonville, they would have raked in the money off of his jersey sales.

I think it's a smart move. It is definitely placing Sanchez on notice. Tebow might not be your typical NFL QB, but one thing that seems to resonate over and over is that he is a leader and works super hard at continually improving his performance.

Jersey sales revenue is shared among all the teams.
Looks like the Jets gave up a fourth and sixth round pick for him. Tebow will do fine running the wildcat for them. Get ready NY for Tebowmania!

Any team Tebow goes to is not for his skill, but the attention and revenue! Lets face it, Tebows attitude and positiveness brings the fans to the seats!
This is GOLD for any team!

I like the kid so I root for him......except when my Giants pound him in the dirt....:smiley1:

The problem with that is Jacksonville has to want him and obviously they don't since they also passed on him in the draft. Could be he's just not that good of a pro-style QB. Not everyone is in the position to want to tailor their offense around him. And that's what you have to do.

I agree. The media will have to be very careful in their criticism of him because of his "good guy" status. Mark Sanchez got lazy because he had no competition. You have now been served Mr. Sanchez.

I would only disagree on this point: Tebow is a red-zone athlete who will get it in the endzone with his legs. He does have skill in that area.

Between this and Manning throwing for the Broncos, it is going to make for an exciting NFL season!
Are Sanchez and Tebow going to compete for the starting job, or is Tebow expected to be a QB2 for them?

I am a lifelong Jets fan, so controversial moves is not new territory. I like Tebow as a person and player; he was great with Denver. If Tebow can succeed anywhere it is with a team that fancies the run, and well... that is the Jets. With all of the locker room turmoil from last year I wonder how Tim will take to his new environment. If Tim can help calm the locker room and improve the run through wildcat or whatever means possible then I believe he can succeed as a Jet. Besides, Sanchez needs pushed hard if he is ever going to develop and Tebow does not know the meaning of taking it easy; he is a competitor plain and simple.

Hells No! The first time Sanchez throws a pic their fickle fan base will call for Tebow to step in. Sanchez already has a confidence problem and he doesn't do so well under pressure. Really it doesn't matter because everything the Jets seem to do goes wrong anyway.
From a completely different perspective, I really hope not. Sports radio around here already spends enough time on the Jets (and Tebow) as it is and I certainly don't need to hear about either one more than I already do.

Tebow will serve as inspiration for Sanchez to play with more consistency. But I don't consider Tebow a serious threat to Sanchez. Tebow can't shine Sanchez' shoes.

I totally thought this was hypothetical when I posted on this a few minutes ago...I just turned on The Michael Kay Show and they are ripping the Jets for making this deal....
They're saying this is a sort of reaction from the Giants winning the Super Bowl and similar to the Yankees in the late 80's just grabbing every star they could because the Mets were good regardless of how they fit on the team. Hilarious! This is just another ring to the Jets circus!

Oh and now ESPN is reporting that there's a "snag" in the deal. It may not even happen and Saint Louis might step in and grab him.

Seriously! Where did they manage to get those that fast and why would they get them that fast.

Any good sporting goods store can make up a jersey with anyone's name and number so I would guess they had them custom made.
As to why, well I am not a psychiatrist so I can't help you there.

Man, the damage is already done. Sanchez has the confidence of a 5 year old lost at Macy's. Whether or not he was going to emotionally survive the Manning affair was already questionable, now with the Tebow signing he will most certainly be crushed.
I say the damage is done so you may as well sign him and move forward.

If the deal actually does go through and Tebow becomes a Jet, it's a really bad move. If the Jets don't end up making this deal now and Tebow plays for another team, they look really bad. Either way the Jets have put themselves in a no win situation once again. Why they would go and create a controversy like this is mind boggling. Joe Namath was on the radio about a half hour ago and he flat out said that this goes to show the guys running the organization have no clue what they're doing.

I really don't like the Jets, but I like Tebow!!! I don't think he will stay behind Dirty Sanchez for long, I am thinking they got him for some trade bait. I think he would have been great in Jacksonville too or backing up Big Ben in PIT cause Charlie Batch is getting older now.

I think that is this deal goes through it's going to be a mess. A bad situation for both players. It seems as though the Jets have no true direction.
Of course, I could be wrong.

And a ton of heart! Yeah, he doesn't have the skills other QBs have but you can never count him out. He'll give you the best he's got on each and every play and is a team player. Not all pro athletes can say that. I like the kid and will root for him no matter where he goes.

Well said. He is super competitive and will always give you his best. He doesn't have the natural talent of other elite athletes, but I do think this intangible quality is something that should not be overlooked.

No matter what kind of heart he has or competitive nature the question is what is he going to do on a team that just invested in another quarterback? He's not even going to be the starter and if they only use him to run the wildcat, it won't work. The wildcat is only successful if the QB is a threat to throw the ball. Every time Tebow steps on the field, the other team is gonna know he's gonna run it. It just doesn't make any sense why the Jets would take him and way Tebow picked to play there. If the Jets didn't just give Sanchez the contract extension, you could see the logic of them going in a different direction but now they have two guys for one position and no team wins when there isn't one definitive quaterback.

Tebow reminds me of Terry Bradshaw, Bradsaw had a strong arm but was erratic and took him a while to find himself and when he did boy he made the best of it.......
Also didn't hurt Bradshaw to have two guys named Lynn Swann and John Stallworth as receivers and Rocky Bleier and Franco Harris as his backs.......:smiley1:

In my opinion what it comes down to is the Jets are ****ed the Giants won the SB and got all the media attention. They wanted to do something to trump the Giants and figured Tebow Time was it. I agree with you - I don't think it will work strictly because Tebow isn't a good passing QB. He's a one-trick pony. So it was all publicity for the Jets. Rex Ryan now gets to talk about it for months on end. In the long run I think it will just be a nightmare for the Jets. For Tebow, he probably saw NY as a better way to be marketed rather than podunk Jacksonville.

Wow now i just read this.
Jets officials are strongly encouraging new recruit Tim Tebow to live in New Jersey to keep him as far away as possible from the temptations of New York's nightlife, a source close to the team has said.
Um because tebow is a known wildman party dude? Jets need to get a grip.

I read something that stated That Jacksonville has the Absolute Worse Merchandise Sales in the NFL. Even when Like Coughlin was there ..., and they were Not a Real Bad Team... Fans just don't buy thier Stuff. I'm sure some cash woulda been made off a T-Bow Jersey ...., But Times that by like Infinity ..., and thats What a Jet-Bow Jersey is gonna sell.

six months from now Tebow will shoot himself in the leg after an altercation at a NY nightclub, involving 2 known drug dealers and his crack addicted "date".
As he is dragged away by police, bystanders will hear him yelling in a drunken slur - "$@&% you Manning! You ruined everything!":silly:

Not a Jets fan, but I'm curious to see if they can make the Wildcat work. Tebow is 6'3" and about 240. We know he can run with the ball, and we know he can pass. I'd like to see if he can block & catch, and then they'd be able to line him up anywhere - including tight end.
Couldn't bear to read the entire thread. Where are all you experts come Mego league FF season. lol

Sanchez might as well get a rear view mirror for his helmet with as much looking over his shoulder as he'll be doing. I looked it up. Sanchez is Spanish for the word Orton. The only human beings who wanted him in Denver were his fanbase and their previous coach. He's gotta be smart enough to know he's being used as a pawn here.
Tebow in the Big Apple? Remember the last time we heard a story about a Christian and an apple? Could be trouble. Poetically, his career is about to be born again.
And how about the Broncos? During the recruitment phase, Manning provided Denver with a disc containing all his medical information. Sadly it was the one from between his fifth and sixth vertebrae. I really hope this works out for him cause I genuinely like him. You can't help but notice the dynamics, though. The Broncos went from a guy who had the nerve not to throw the ball to a guy who doesn't have the nerves to throw the ball.
