UNCA is the local team in the tourney. We have a few other members close to Asheville here. Everyone is going nuts right now. How awesome if they can beat Syracuse today?

When/if they end up playing the Badgers or Marquette we'll have a gentlemen's bet.

If they play wisconsin it would be in the sweet 16, more likely than Marquette would be in the Championship game. But i'd be game for a friendly wager.

I have Syracuse to win this game but won't really hurt me if they lose since I don't have them going more than two rounds (I have Wisconsin beating them). Looks like my big bet will come tomorrow. Belmont is my Cinderella team....I have a few other first round upsets and this is where our pools are generally won (in the first rounds) since the points only increase by one in each round and short of some big shockers, most everyone has some combination of 6 teams in the final 4.

Same here, i actually have Wisconsin beating Cuse next round. I would love for them to exit in the first round though.

Wow 4 pathetic calls against UNCA down the stretch that changed the game. And they all ended up giving Syracuse points. Terrible calls.

^ You knew they couldn't have a 16 upset a 1. It's not right, but I could see this coming from a mile away.

Yeah the commentators are slamming the refs right now. How awesome though if UNCA could have pulled it off. I don't see any of the other #1 seeds having close games.

I've got K-State beating them in the next round anyways.

I have been let down this entire year by my Duke Blue Devils. A team with as many guards as they have should have a higher shooting %. The only good moment i have had with these clowns all year was the upset win against UNC. So done with Duke this year. If they lose this game i don't even care.

I'm just stunned at the degree of upsets today. Michigan, Missouri, Duke! But I still have my final four in my brackets. UK against Michigan State. And Syracuse against North Carolina.

Scrolling through the ESPN boards and finding so much Duke hate. I don't understand that. I get college rivalries and arch rival stuff. What I cannot wrap my mind around is so many people from all over the country are actually getting aroused by Duke losing. It's shocking for sure, but I read a post, that got pulled quickly, about someone wishing their bus would run off the road, catch fire and kill everyone.

Otherwise, this has been a very interesting tournament. This is the second best sporting event after the Super Bowl.

It's more of a gambling hate than anything. Alot of people probably had Duke in the final four or the championship. A staple position for this team. So alot of brackets got burned up today. I did pick the Michigan upset, so I got lucky there.

Being a Duke fan for the last 30 plus years i don't understand the degree of hate. Now there are teams i despise, UNC of course, Kentucky, UConn. But i would never wish physical tragedy or death. Dang it's a game. Coach K is amazing. He never said one harsh word about his players after that loss. And one stat i always like to point out about Duke is these kids are also among the highest academically. It is in the top 2% of all college students that even get accepted into Duke. This loss stings as i have never seen Duke get beat in the first round. This team just never had that Duke magic this year. I hope all the haters enjoy it cause you can bet they will be back again next year.

You hate Kentucky? Then again...:hugs: I understand bro. I lean more for the Cards. We've always been considered the scrapper team in Kentucky. But hey, we've carved out a proud place in college ball with two championships. I'll never forget Darrel Griffith and his 360 dunk. The man!

Dr. Dunkenstein, cool.

I was raised from the womb to be an Indiana Hoosier fan. I really had no choice. That also meant I was required to hate Kentucky, which I never really did. When we moved to Northern Kentucky in 1982, we were surrounded by Bluenecks, so that part was a nightmare for my dad. I've just gotten to the point where I can't get excited or riled up over this stuff. I don't agree with how UK conducts business being like a semi-pro team and having all these one and done kids come through. Heck, one of my favorite college players ever was a Wildcat, Jamal Mashburn.

I alwyas respected the hell out of Lousiville, and yes, it seems like they are always regarded as the step child in the state. Denny Crumb was great. I think Pitino is kind of slimey, but I don't dislike him. I hope the Cards make a good run in this tourney.

Right there with you. I never wanted Pitino to come to Louisville. His self promotion has no limits...or shame. And your absolutely right. He's slimy. Zack Price and Peyton Siva are very close friends of the family through my daughter's boyfriend. They're good kids. And Zack Price (height wise) makes me look like Rocky to Thunder Lips. NO JOKE! But they both call Pitino the "Devil". He's brutal to his kids. Do you know he will punish them by making them get on an underwater cycle and ride it with an oxygen mask until their exhausted? Absolute truth. The guy is an idiot Scott. And I think his days are numbered. He looks burned out and is even talking that way. Good reddens. Rebel bluegrass scum. :smiley1:

It's totally out of respect Tom. Although i think Kentucky's current coach is a scumbag. I honestly can't say how i really feel about him cause i might get banned. I was looking forward to a possible rematch. I think the throw and shot is the greatest the game has ever seen. That game was amazing. At least the right team won...:yeah: wow another 12 seed just won.

Oh I totally understand Mark. Calipari has a very shady history, so I'm not a fan of his at all. Winning or not, it's how you play the game that matters to me.

That's kinda why I liked Crumb. We was always an Indiana rival(they played almost every year) but he was never, ever under NCAA scrutiny or investigated. He did things the right way, win or lose. His methodology might be different that most, but he got results form his players a high percentage of the time.

I can remember the very moment when Crum first started thinking about retirement. It's when he was interviewed on 60 Minutes, basically speaking out of lockstep with the Athletic Director at the time, Schumaker. And it all had to do with the grades some of his players were making and how that should impact their ability to be recruited or play ball. Crum really got his back up about that and from that point forward he never gave the game the same love he always did. I think he retired four years after that. I loved that guy though. A great coach and tremendous person.

Went to the NC State / San Diego State game today. Fun, but no beer for sale in the arena. NC State was clearly the better team; not sure why SD State was seeded do much higher.

I watched the Georgetown / Belmont warmups, & decided that G'town would roll, so I left. Good call. Came home & sat on the patio with beer, grill & TV. Ahh :cool_y:.

Liked seeing Ohio U beat Mich; hope Brady Hoke was watching. Hey, Brady - Ohio State is the team that knocked Michigan out of the Big 10 tourney. Ohio is the team that knocked Michigan out of the NCAA tourney. Questions?:silly:

Nothing against Duke or Mizzou, but the two 15/2 upsets were great theater. I still have KY beating NC in the final.

Every school scumlipari has coached at has suffered some sort of sanctions yet that piece of garbage just moves on to another school and never pays any price himself. It makes me sick when i hear him mentioned as a great coach.

I have no problem with people simply pulling for Duke to lose. I pull for every top seed other than them to get beat. I loved it when Missouri lost. Not so much with Duke though..lol

I think most people dislike Duke, not because of Coach K (a class act) or the players themselves (excellent student athletes), but because the institution as a whole comes off very elitist. It's the whole preppy rich popular kids vs. the average kids in high school thing. Wishing serious bodily harm on them is totally ignorant and sad however.

If i wasn't a fan, i would hate Duke for those reasons. Very well said. It does bother me though when someone talks bad about coach K. Even in a very bad loss and an equally bad season he didn't say one negative about his players.

Mike Kryzyzewski will go down as the best coach in college basketball history. He is total class. He has the basketball smarts of Bobby Knight without the anger issues. His players learn how to handle themselves in life, not just basketball. I admire him very much.

I will finish by saying....... Go IU Hoosiers!

Combine that with the idea that they win all the time and they become an easy target. Can't say I'm a Duke fan at all, but have a tremendous amount of respect for Coach K and his basketball program.

My team is Kansas, and I'm sure there are many out there that don't like them either. Many of the top programs catch a lot of flack. People get tired of the same teams winning all the time......

It's going to be another fun day in the tourney. There are a couple of games between lower seeds, and I think the G'town / NC State game could be close. Also, there are 2 Ohio schools playing today - Go Ohio & Go Cinci! I'd love to see Ohio St / Cinci next week.

I think it's their plan - distact the opposition with neon jerseys, drive right past them:wink_y:
IU advances! Man VCU's defense is awesome! They don't stop. They'll be the next Gonzaga - team to rise from nowhere to perineal power. Great coach - really motivates his players.
Next up for IU - rematch with Kentucky. I don't see IU pullin' it off twice, but still a great season. College basketball is better when IU is relevant.

With Duke out i'll pull for the ACC teams still left, even UNC, well till the finals that is. And i will still pull for them if they play Kentucky, everyone else though and i hope they get beat. Go Wolfpack and FSU.
