    Mattel's The Archies

After Marx introduced a series of Archie Action figures in 1975, Mattel took a kick at it in 1978 with these been bag versions that used the same construction as their then popular 'Honey Hill Bunch" line of toys.

I have to say that the Mattel sculpts are much nicer than the Marx ones which looked a little creepy.

Betty, stalwart of the line was actually dropped in favour of Sabrina the teenaged witch who did have a popular series in the 70s.

Cool, I knew of the Marx ones, but had no idea Mattel made these ones, I never saw them before. But still no love for Reggie I guess...

The only one that looks even remotely like the character is Archie.

Wasn't there another line where they had articulated figures and a jalopy? Those were actually pretty cool. Very Mego like.

Never saw these...but I probably would'nt have recognized any of them but Archie if I did come across them. Wonder why they limited it to only 4 figures and ignored Betty? And surely Josie (& the Pussycats) were bigger than Sabrina in the '70s, what with two cartoon series?

                  Wow, they are pretty cute.
But I have to say, I like the look of the Marx figures the best.

Has anyone ever tried to use the Marx heads on a 8" body?
I bet it would look a little off, but might work. I have just never seen one of these up close.
