View Full Version : Doctors have CLEARED Peyton Manning to play...
Something tells me the Colts will restructure his contract to keep him there. If Peyton can play, he needs to stay with the Colts.

So much for us experts who thought he was done. I think to see him in any other jersey would suck.
Here's why I think it's in Peyton's interest to restructure his deal and stay put in Indy. Best case scenario, if he can come back for the 2012 season he will be RUSTY as h*ll. Layer that with an arm that will still be rehabbing and adjusting to playing a full season and you get Peyton at about 70% tops. That will be enough to win games and get them back on track. But they will be losing some games along the way too. The Texans are the new bully on that block. Indy fans have a Lombardi trophy to forgive Manning if he is less than stellar. He will be given some time to acclimate himself back into the game. Now, take Peyton out of that market and place him with another team. That town is looking for immediate results. They don't want to hear about why he isn't 100%. He's been brought in to win and bring them a championship. That will be the expectation. Anything less and he will be dogged...DOGGED by media speculation that he should have retired. Fans will start demanding a change and the pressure will be on that coach to do something about it. So, in my eyes, Peyton needs to maintain his career, and legacy, with the Colts.

If and only if he is truly healthy enough to resume playing, then I agree he needs to stay home. I have no wish to see him permantly injured, so those doctors better be right. He will be rusty, but Brady came back after his knee injury when he only played like two games and did a respectable job, if not darn good. Manning will slide right back into place if the arm is there and the mind isn't constantly thinking about the next hit.
Seeing him in another uniform would be awkward, so let's hope that's avoided.

This is the current Colts dilemma. They have the #1 pick in the draft with Andrew Luck being viewed as the best QB to enter the NFL since....Peyton Manning. Luck wants to be a starter out of the gates and Manning has a reputation (whether true or not) of not being one to mentor younger QB's. As I have said before; should Manning be ready to play, this plays well into the hands of the Redskins along with some other teams who are desperate for a QB. I'll be happy with Manning, Luck, or Griffin. The Redskins would be foolish not to jump in and do what it takes to land one of them IMO...especially since they have a lot of salary cap to play with now since cutting away their high priced players.

I think that the Colts should keep him but I will be surprised if they do. I don't think the owner wants him there anymore. The team looks to be rebuilding and want's to go younger. They have fallen in love with drafting Luck and see him as the next face of the franchise. Lets just hope that he doesn't turn out to be another Ryan Leaf or David Carr. One never knows.
If he is 100% healthy, and the Colts look to get rid of him, I would love to see him in Arizona. Kevin Kolb isn't the answer and I think they know that. I would love to see Larry Fitzgerald catching balls from Payton Manning.

As a huge Colts and Peyton fan, I would love to see him come back and finish his career in Indy; however, it makes sense financially for the team to let him go and start rebuilding with Luck. Look, it's obvious the team was built around him, and he covered up a lot of issues(small defense, no run game). They can use the cash to build a whole team and build for the future. I just hope it all goes down with class and not like the Farve departure went down. The team, owner , fan base, city and state owe that to Manning. I'll cheer for him wherever he goes - I think it will be Arizona, and hope he comes back to coach in Indy when his Hall of Fame career is over.
