I just came over to congratulate Rudy as well! This auction has been heavily discussed over at the Universal Monster Army forums, and I'm sure alot of folks want to see more detailed pics of the figure once Rudy has it in hand. I was kinda surprised that this Tomland didn't go a bit higher, though.

I'd love to showcase a picture here, our Tomlands section could use an update.

Bad to the bone! I wonder what the card art would have looked like?!
I can only dream it was lifted from the same artist that the other Tomalnd art was derived from...

Neat! I've seen pics of the Frankenstein and Mummy but never seen the Wolfman before. There obviously has to be a Dracula still out there to be found to complete the set.

Hey Dave,

No card has surfaced for the Wolf Man but odds are it is based on the European box for the Lincoln Wolf Man. You can see pix of the FMOL Glow Mummy (which is a mix of the carded and boxed Lincoln art - not the Mummy card, but still) and Fly card (which is based on Mark Savee's art) at this Universal Monsters Army thread:

Ahhh... I forgot the Mummy card was more of a Lincoln look. I do love Savee's artwork though, hard to believe that was for a kids coloring book!
I have his Sci-Fi book too, it has some very interesting takes on the classics too...

Wow, what a neat, odd figure. The hands resemble blown-up surgical gloves.

Nice snag Rudy!

Yeah, that artwork has meant quite a lot to me over the years. I've still got my first copy of the book, colored in with markers no less.

I've never crossed paths with the Sci-Fi book, although I know it was published. Care to scan any of it?

Sure, be glad to... it's got

I Robot
Bionic Man/Cyborg
Planet of the Apes
Fantastic Voyage
2000 leagues under the sea
The time machine
The island of Dr. Moreau
War of the worlds
Lost World
When Worlds Collide
First Men on the moon
Brave new world
The Martian chronicles
and Dune...

If you like Savee's work it's bad to the bone!

At the risk of coming across like a complete ignoramus, I have a question. Why did this loose figure go so high? Is it part of a rare line??

Yep. So far, it is the only example of this figure to surface. There's a loose Mummy that sold in the same price range a few weeks back (two different threads on this board about that, search Tomland and Mummy), same story with it save that there is one carded one know to be in a collection. No one active in the monster and figure communities has ever seen the Dracula (said to be pictured on the back of the carded Mummy). So, not a foolish question at all, just an obscure figure. Now, find me a Dracula, please.

Thanks very much. I had no idea how rare those figures were. I've been thinking about getting into the horror figures, I used to have some of the Lincoln guys as a kid.

Yep, I just realized the other day that Rudy was the one who won this. I can't afford it, but it should be fun watching the slugfest when it pops up! ;)

If I recall correctly, Rudy sold this privately a while back.
