I think the first game is a no-brainer. Patriots are going to the Superbowl. It's just a question of who they will face. With the rain coming down in San Fran, it's anybody's game. Throw out the stats. Turnovers will likely determine that winner.

Jan 22, '12, 2:26 PM
Don't write off the Ravens too quickly.
megoapesnut
Jan 22, '12, 2:49 PM
With the rain in San Fran, it might come down to the running game. SF's only real threat through the air is Davis. Let's see how well SF's other receivers can handle a wet ball. I am thinking some dropsees. If NY can contain Davis and stop the run, that might be all she wrote.

Good first half. Ravens giving them a better game than what I thought. Still say Pats have too many weapons though.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 3:41 PM
Tom and Bill are talking right now. We will see how it goes in the second half. Ravens are playing pretty tough though. Possibly all the Patriot talk has fueled them a bit.

Jan 22, '12, 4:06 PM
I hope for the 49ers & Ravens, 49ers take all! GO NFC!!!!

Jan 22, '12, 4:13 PM
Field position played a huge part in the first half....weakness in the secondary for the Patriots is more apparent vs. Baltimore than against Denver.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 4:29 PM
been a problem all year
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 4:58 PM
What a football game. Just under 3 minutes left. Lets hope the 2nd one is as good.

Jan 22, '12, 5:05 PM
Harbaugh may have cost the Ravens the game. Kick the field goal or punt, don't go for it on 4th and 6 against the Pats on the road. Good coach, bonehead call.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 5:13 PM
That's not a win to brag about, that's for sure....But I did say with former COWBOY Cundiff having to kick, there was a chance. And so it was. The Cowboy curse is alive and well.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 5:17 PM
Sure it is man, Both teams played their hearts out. ANd the Patriots kicker made his kicks. Funny about the cowboy curse. I am emotionally drained and my voice is horse.

and give the Patriots the ball at almost mid field if you miss. Pats would have had the ball at the spot of thekick so even by failing they saved a few yards.
I think he made the only call he could.

God I hate the Patriots And Boy Band Brady. :muh:
I thought for Sure Flaco was gonna do it ..., Or was hoping for it. That Interception The Ravens got was Unbelievable ..., They made the Patriots play thier type of Football that Entire Game. I would fire that Flipp'in Kicker the Second he tried to walk over to the Sidelines.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 5:33 PM
Ravens played an incredible game. I loved it when ray and brady trash talked for a sec. You could see both smile after a few seconds out of mutual respect. I did say to my wife of all people brady could get in the face of Lewis is not the man to do it to.
This next game is going to be an old school hard hitting defensive struggle. Down and dirty is how it's going to be.

Jan 22, '12, 5:41 PM
That was a good game now lets see if the GIANTS can do some damage in San Francisco!
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 5:55 PM
Eli just thrives on third down. It's bizarre.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 5:58 PM
He just fell apart on that last 3rd down.GO 49ERS!!!!!
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 6:05 PM
The Giants secondary acted like they gave up on that play after he caught the ball. That was weird.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 6:17 PM
How the heck did the 49ers get that fumble back?! Wow! I smell Karma favoring the 49ers here.
Spawn67
Jan 22, '12, 6:21 PM
Talk about a heartbreaker!! Well my Ravens OUTPLAYED the patriots on many aspects. Oh well was a good year and shut up alot of naysayers! Just for the record Ive always HATED billy cundiff! We had another kicker in the season when he was injured who smoked him! I was like "what?" when he came back. Oh well he's fired! At least I hope so!

Jan 22, '12, 7:05 PM
Niners defense feels a little soft to me. Nervous about Eli sticking the dagger in....
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 7:09 PM
The game appears to be getting bigger than Alex Smith. Neither team seems particularly together tonight. I know the weather is factoring, but the conservative nature of this game was not what I expected.
BlackKnight
Jan 22, '12, 7:16 PM
The Gmen look Better right now, and are a more Complete Team. They Just Don't give up ...., and I really think Always give it their All. They look so Much like that Team Who won the Super Bowl a few Years Back.
All Frisco's Got right now is really that 1 Bomb Catch.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 7:40 PM
Wow that almost cost the Giants. I agree they are playing better football right now. And Eli looks like he is in much better control when he has the ball. This one is close but i can see it starting to tilt more towards the Giants. Heck even when they run into the kicker they get away with it.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 7:42 PM
I never imagined this game to be...well...so quiet. The defense IS good, but the offensive miscues on both sides are really stacking up. If the 49ers can find a way to win, I think they are the underdog in the Superbowl. The games are getting too big for Alex Smith now. You can see it in his play. He's not comfortable in the pocket and scrambles too fast without looking down field.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 7:47 PM
And that fast the game changes.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 7:47 PM
And then he does that. Go 49ers.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 7:52 PM
They have woken up! I want a Patriots/49ers Superbowl. It will be EPIC.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 7:59 PM
As much as i would love for the Patriots to destroy the Giants, i'm still going with my pick of Pats vs 49ers
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:01 PM
oh my god that dude is out cold
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:02 PM
I think it's a concussion. The way his head snapped back, that is usually indicative of brain trauma. He should be okay, but he won't be back in the game. His right leg is up so his back is okay. He just got his bell rung.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:07 PM
Good to see him walking off the field. Could have been a stinger as well. He was wincing in pain.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:12 PM
I feel the Giants dream season beginning to unravel. Something missing with them tonight. It's not in their eyes.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:20 PM
yeah something more than just the 49ers D
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:21 PM
I'm not believing what just happened...How could that moron stand there after the ball hit him?
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:21 PM
The game may have just changed in the Giants favor.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:23 PM

Jan 22, '12, 8:26 PM

toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:27 PM
If we can just hold them to a field goal.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:31 PM
Eli does it again on third down.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:34 PM
Eli Manning is just the luckiest SOB on the planet. That team didn't even have a pulse five minutes ago and because of something a numbskull 49er punt returner did, suddenly the media declares the "Greatness of Eli!" Crap just falls in his lap. C'mon 49ers! Beat the crap out that boyee.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:34 PM
Nice return this time.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:37 PM
I just want to give him a wedgie or a noogie, Eli just looks so dorky. I have said it b4 but Archie must have some amazing genes
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:37 PM
Nice run Alex Smith.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:38 PM
Followed by Hunter's run
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:41 PM
And it's tied.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:42 PM
Jeez... How interesting do these games have to get? Well, I have plenty of faith in the 49ers defense to hold. As long as they watch that corner that replaced the injured starter. Manning will likely pick on him down the field. The 49ers need to be aware.
MegoScott
Jan 22, '12, 8:42 PM
Tense!
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:45 PM
Three and out!!!!
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:45 PM
Here we go... Another last minute 49er "drive". Dallas had to live with it forever. Now the Giants get to try it on for size. :smiley1:
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:47 PM
Hope your right.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:47 PM
Lets see what he has right here. Third down and long. No conversions yet
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:48 PM
Alex Smith is NOT Montana... I smell an overtime unless the 49ers secondary blow a coverage.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:49 PM
0 for 10 now. that is a game killing stat. How is this game tied when they have no third down conversions
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:50 PM
oh you had to say that name. I loath Montana.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:50 PM
Way to go 49er D!!!!
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:51 PM
oh you had to say that name. I loath Montana.
I loath it more...
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:51 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:52 PM
THAT'S BS!!!! They stripped the ball!!!
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:52 PM
B.S. call.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:52 PM
Some how, some way, if the Bengals ever make it back to the Super Bowl that %T$##&%$&# will be the other quarterback.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:53 PM
It all rides on this next play.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:53 PM
But the rule is the ref calling the end to forward motion can not over rule a fumble. That is complete BS. The Giants better not win this game.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:55 PM
Now its our turn.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:55 PM
Cruz pushed off too!
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:55 PM
If they lost cause of that call i'd be ticked. Punt time.
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:56 PM
Why am I smelling a turnover coming? Someone stop my sick imagination.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 8:56 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 8:58 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:58 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 8:59 PM

MegoScott
Jan 22, '12, 9:03 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:04 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:05 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:05 PM
If we get overtime it's the same as always right. Sudden Death, not the new rules we had this season?
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:06 PM
Really? :please_y: All that for a three yard gain?
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 9:06 PM
No new rules now
KosmiCKennY
Jan 22, '12, 9:07 PM
new rules will apply
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:08 PM
If we get overtime it's the same as always right. Sudden Death, not the new rules we had this season?
NO! On the first drive if either team (offense or defense) scores a touchdown, the game is over. If they score a field goal, the other team has a chance to score.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:08 PM
ok i thought i had heard somewhere it was still sudden death in the playoffs. I think the new rules are fair.
KosmiCKennY
Jan 22, '12, 9:08 PM
really? good I didn't hear that I like that better
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:09 PM
Right like that Denver win. I like the new rules. SHould be fair for both teams. Old rule was tough if your season ends cause you lost a dang coin flip.
KosmiCKennY
Jan 22, '12, 9:09 PM
ok new rules do apply
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:11 PM
Look at the downpour! The Giants can have it!!! I still think a turnover will decide this game.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:11 PM
Man guys.... have we had some awesome football today or what. I'm still a hockey first guy but this has been an awesome day.

Jan 22, '12, 9:11 PM

Jan 22, '12, 9:12 PM

KosmiCKennY
Jan 22, '12, 9:13 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:15 PM

Jan 22, '12, 9:19 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:20 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:20 PM

MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:20 PM
I was just thinking that. How to **** your coach off every time.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 9:20 PM
How does that happen?
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:21 PM
Oh no...
MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:22 PM
You know what? The 49ers have had like seven drives to try and take the lead on offense. Most of the time they have gone three and out. Their defense can not keep this up!
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:23 PM
I'm feeling it as well. Someone get Eli, he scares me right now.
toyman
Jan 22, '12, 9:24 PM
If we lose its because we gave it away on that punt.
MegoMark71
Jan 22, '12, 9:25 PM

MIB41
Jan 22, '12, 9:26 PM

Wow I just read this entire thread...it was cool to kind of relive the games through the posts. Eli is becoming the best quaterback in New York History. You can't spell elite without Eli! I didn't have a rooting interest in the first game cause my team was in the second game so I was able to enjoy game one without caring about the outcome but man the second game was a nail biter all the way. The second best part about the wins today is that this is the worst match up for Jets fans. All year they kept saying this is our town now and the Giants just took it right back from them. Go Giants!

Funny, all the sports centers i have seen talk about BOTH quarterbacks and are even saying that right now Eli is playing better football. You haters can hate on Brady all you want but the fact is he has won 17 playoff games and lost only 5. He has now tied Joe Montana for most playoff wins ever. ANd he has three Super bowl wins. That doesn't happen cause the media crowned him champion. And i heard him talking about the superbowl he lost to the Giants and the last game. Sounds like he is just as hungry as Eli and the Giants. And last time Brady didn't choke, he got beat cause that son of an onion put super glue on his helmet. Still haunted by that catch.

Your taking the media stance. I'm talking from the team perspective. They do NOT feel any ownership to the title. And by the way your talking, you ARE suggesting the Giants have a rite of passage....as underdogs. Your saying this is their role and this is how they will win. Well.... that's a rite of passage. Your saying they are coming in the way they want to win the game. I think because they beat the Pats the last time, they have a confidence that may betray them. New England is a much better team, especially on defense. And the Giants defense will also not have a hobbling Brady like they did the last Superbowl. And it is ELI who is getting all the praise. The expectation is on HIS shoulders to win at his brother's house and take over as the premiere QB in the family. So your sadly mistaken if you think Eli comes in being treated like a rookie. Brady is a first round Hall of Fame inductee. He's been in the Superbowl five of the last eleven years. You can hate him all you want. But you can't deny his record. And unlike most QBs, he's had to do it with a different squad each time. Plus he's coming in hungry. He won the majority of those titles early in that period. I look at him the same way John Elway was when he won Superbowls late in his career. And you think the game is too big for this guy? That's wishful thinking.

1.The Pats do not have a better defense they are ranked 31 just above the packers........you best believe the Giants are going to exploit that.
2.Giants defense right now is much better...they just beat two teams that were on fire.....
3.Despite being the #2 Offense the Pats beat only 500 or under teams the Ravens were the ONLY team they beat that had a winning season

1.The Pats do not have a better defense they are ranked 31 just above the packers........you best believe the Giants are going to exploit that.
That was a ranking during the regular season. Did it help the Ravens? No sir. Did it help the celebrated Broncos? No sir. What are they ranked today? Well I would have to say their either first or second because that's all that's left. And their defense helped get them to the Superbowl.
2.Giants defense right now is much better...they just beat two teams that were on fire.....
Did the Giants defense beat the 49ers? I didn't see that game. I saw Kyle Williams turn the ball over two times. He beat the 49ers. And the Raven's kicker' Cundiff' beat the Ravens. Neither team in the Superbowl this year has much bragging rights for how they got there. Defense was good on both sides of the ball in both games.
3.Despite being the #2 Offense the Pats beat only 500 or under teams the Ravens were the ONLY team they beat that had a winning season
They also lost to a team that had a losing record at the time and only finished 8-8 ...The Giants. A team, by the way, that backed into the playoffs. You want to point to stats as proof of something where there is none. If you want to look at stats as justification, neither team would be here today. It would be the Packers and Ravens if the printed page ruled. But there's also something called heart, luck, and being at the right place at the right time. Both teams experienced that. And that is the ONLY REASON why either of them are here.
...The Giants are hot but most are gonna bet on the Pats because of Brady...Giants are underdogs no matter what......
Would you feel worse if they weren't? Does it give them an "advantage"? I don't see anyone talking about the Giants as underdogs. Your reliving 2007. This is 2012 and it's a toss up.
Come Monday Morning if Brady wins it is EXPECTED.....if he loses he'll be ****ed on by all the media.......
Brady will be a Hall of Fame QB no matter what happens in this Superbowl. He won three Superbowls in four years and has been in five through eleven years. He's a great QB and you will just have to live with the praise that comes with that. It's all gravy at this point. Eli Manning on the other hand still has history evaluating him. And he KNOWS it. Alot of people consider Eli's pass in the last Superbowl a prayer he simply threw up. It was the CATCH that made it memorable. Now he has to prove it wasn't a fluke. If Brady and company beat him, the great defeat of 2007 is FORGOTTEN. Why? Because when people remember the 2007 year, they'll bookend that thought by saying Brady paid him back. And Brady can hang THAT on his trophy case too. :smiley1: If Eli beats him again, then Eli has the bragging rights and that will be his distinction. He kept Brady from winning all five Superbowls. But it doesn't change Brady's legacy. It only helps his.
What's at 'stake' on Superbowl Sunday is Eli's legacy. He either crosses over and MEETS Brady on the other side or he doesn't. That's it.

What's at 'stake' on Superbowl Sunday is Eli's legacy. He either crosses over and MEETS Brady on the other side or he doesn't. That's it.
Good Post bro,I'll leave it alone because these things tend to get out of hand and heated very quickly........:smiley3::smiley1:

Good show gents.
Whatever happens in the game i believe we are going to see both quarterbacks play their hearts out. Who reaps the rewards? The fans will. I still have a superbowl contest i'll announce soon. I'm coming up with some prizes right now.

As much as some of you hate Brady...I HATE that little puke Eli.:yuk:
With "Daddy" Manning pulling the strings, what was one of the odder moments in draft history. Afraid the Chargers might be the current-day version of his Saints, Archie made it clear that he didn’t want his youngest son stuck on a loser. He instructed Eli’s agent, Tom Condon, to call San Diego general manager A.J. Smith and advise him against taking Eli. Condon added that the New York Giants would be the best fit. Archie later said that he knew nothing about that remark.
Manning told the San Diego Chargers he wouldn't play for them, and he looked pained when they went ahead and chose him No. 1 overall anyway. He posed awkwardly with NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, holding a Chargers jersey until, barely more than an hour later, the Giants finally pulled off the blockbuster trade that brought him to New York.
Yup...Eli's Daddy took good care of him.:deal2:
