Now Cindy is going to want to find one of these. I've never seen it before. Is it an actual Barbie product, or just a generic item for "fashion dolls"?

For some reason I remember this - which is odd since I don't have any sisters.

I have one of these (two actually, but the second was cannibalized to restore the first). It is not a Mattel product but a generic "fashion doll" piece made for Sears. There were two versions, though I don't in what order they were released: one manual which rotated courtesy of a crank and the other (the one in the pic) B.O. which worked by pushing a button.

It's pretty cool but the electronic edition is ridiculously LOUD! Here's a demo on YouTube.

Though there's no official connection I'm convinced Disney's GE-sponsored Carousel of Progress served as inspiration.

They can reach $50+ on eBay. I got mine in a lot of B.O. toys for worked-out to be like $10.
