    AHI Superfriends Buggy

After almost three decades of toy collecting, not many vintage toy sightings make me want to wet my pants. This past few weeks I've had the pleasure of almost losing control several times, first with the Tomland Monsters and then followed up by this, the AHI Superfriends car in glorious detail.

My friend Mark from Heroes West Coast hooked me up with these awesome shots, so please everybody check out his ebay store.

    More after the jump:

The first thing I want to say after "Gahhh!" is "Aquaman"! While Wonder Woman is strangely absent, you have no idea how much Aquaman gets the shaft in 70s merch. Well, read this if you're curious.

I am assuming this is some sort of parade situation and the A listers are strutting their stuff.

AC's been hitting the red bull.

I can't not love this toy, it may be the crappiest remote controlled car ever but it's just so crazy and colorful. One of these days, it shall be mine!

Wow! Never seen that one before.

The chances of finding a loose example with Bats and Supes still standing has got to be remote.

    Wow!

Its all fun and games until Aquaman decides to drive under a low treebranch. Man, what a crazy toy. And where's Wonder Woman?

Who would be the most inexperienced driver here? Probably Aquaman. I mean Superman has to drive as Clark Kent from time-to-time (George Reeves drove around in his Nash all the time). In any continuity (including Super Friends) Robin was old enough to drive the Batmobile. Arthur probably never bothered to get license, since he knew about his powers by age 16. He just swam everywhere!

How big is this thing? I've never been able to get an idea of it's scale.

            Chris

All kidding aside, this thing is insanely awesome. Love the artwork with it's combo of Toth Supes and Aquaman, and Infantino Batman and Robin.

Aquaman's pupils look a little dialated to be driving...

That box is awesome. When I was a kid, I had the batmobile version that had the wire and the remote like that. I think it worked for two minutes before the wheels wouldn't turn anymore. I cannot imagine that there are many of these left in the world.
                It's all good!

Wonder Woman is the variant that comes with a removable top.

                      That's way cool?

Is it a marriage of a loose buggy/figures with a box? It seems weird to have a price sticker on the hood of the vehicle.

Which top is removable, the buggy's or Wonder Woman's?

OMG. I just had that experience of seeing something I had completely forgotten about and having it come back vividly. I stared at this thing with lust everytime we went to K-Mart. Could never get Mom to pull the trigger.
