Hit the Toronto Sunday Market today and picked up a few of my favorite things.
A Rushton (plush with the creepy rubber face) skunk, A chalkware carnival prize Kewpie doll and last but not least a vintage Marx Mr. Mercury.
The robot itself is in really decent shape (missing his ears, head piece and of course the foam pads on the hands) but otherwise complete with perfect looking battery holder. The seller unfortunately only had a rough top to the box, but finding 1965 Marx robot in a mint box at a flea market for a reasonable price probably isn't happening in my lifetime. Even the least savvy flea marketer knows that old tin robots are extremely collectible.
I think the box will look a lot better tomorrow, I'm going to put some heavy books in it tonight and straighten it out a bit. It's got some corner issues, and dents, dings, rips, etc but still has great colour and graphics. It's weird that the seller wouldn't have the bottom though.
i'll post pics tomorrow and see what you guys think.
