    Another Source For Heads?

    Hi Folks,

I was at Michael's today and I came across cake topper dolls. They had some that were approximately Barbie scale, but they also had smaller ones and I thought the smaller ones appeared to be in Mego scale (even though the bodies on them are tiny). I bought a package and took some pictures. They do seem to be in the correct scale for 8 inch Mego ladies (the neck h opening had to be enlarged a bit and I stuck one on a CTVT female body, pic below)...A possible source for lady heads for your Mego figures?

The heads are a flexible vinyl or PVC (they aren't too squishy) with rooted hair in different colors (blond, red, brown and black). They're not perfect, they all look very happy (maybe their faces could even be repainted?), they aren't much on ethnic diversity either (they're all Caucasian girls) and they all have rooted hair in a shoulder-length bob style. Perhaps there are more out there, that are of different ethnic backgrounds and maybe some with longer hair? Oh...They were $6.40 something for the package of four. I have no idea if anybody has suggested these before, but I thought I'd let you folks know (photos below)....And I apologize for rambling so much...LOL!

    Dana

The little cake doll bodies will go into the recycle bin.

    Now THOSE are cute!

Are they on the website? There's no Michael's in my immediate vicinity, and I don't have a car.

That black hair head is what I used for my Wonder Girl custom. I got mine at the local Party Store - the local Michael's didn't carry them.

My question is who would you make a cake for and put these naked girls on top - other then Hugh Heffner?

I'll have to check out Party City, to see if they have them.

Candyland Crafts also has them in a set of four Caucasian, and one set of four ethnic.

Very pretty, and the neck hole can probably be adjusted if its too small.

Yea, I had to open up the neck hole to fit the Breyer Girl body for Wonder Girl.

Hey, those Candyland Crafts Caucasion dolls have different faces and hairstyles than the ones I found (they aren't smiling, which is a plus). The ethnic ones are cool too, but it's too bad they don't have more of a variety of hairstyles (they look all very similar).

This cake website has some like the dolls I bought (or at least they look like it, their hair appears a bit longer and they don't have a redhead)...

I can only find the full kit on the online store
Michaels has the products you need for home decor, framing, scrapbooking and more. Shop and save on arts and crafts supplies online or at a store near you.

                        Great minds Dana........

I think there's even more potential with these if the eyes and eyebrows are tweaked.

The ones that have the longer hair can always be trimmed into a newer style.

The eyes, brows and smile can all be tweaked, with a judicious application of aquatone and a new paint job.

Their faces are sweeter than the Breyer dolls, who always seemed a bit off to me.

BTW, how much more do you have to open up the neck, and what did you use to do it? A craft knife?
