I never saw them listed in Christmas catalogues for 1976. Were they in stores before the first Star Wars movie? Were the Micros stamped with 1977 (like Baron Karza) really didn't come out until 1978? I ask this because I'm trying to nail down the year I got my first batch of Micronauts. I have vague memories of my mom coming home from shopping and giving me and my brother a Pharoid, Time Traveller, Acroyear 2, Photon Sled, and a Galactic Cruiser.

I think they were. Not long before, and a small selection. I can remember getting the Crater Cruncher at the end of the summer of '76, and at the time only the small vehicles + Time Traveller sets were available.

I'm just going by my foggy childhood memories, but I'm pretty sure the first ones were out before the first Star Wars film, maybe spring 1977?

According to what has been related to me by the people involved in the original Micronauts toy line: the Micronauts were offered at the December licensing trade show in NYC in 1976, and were available for order in the trade, so they are legally trademarked 1976 - particularly the ones that were made directly from existing Takara production runs. They weren't delivered for retail until after Spring Toy Fair 1977. Initial stocks were limited, however, and they toys might no have been very commonplace until later in '77.

I always felt that they were out sometime in '77. I occasionally come across people on the internet that say they got Micronauts for Christmas 1976. I guess they got Christmas 77 and 76 mixed up.

Karza was out basically a year after the rest of them.
