Although my brothers had the first release MEGO Star Trek dolls and even Spiderman and Riddler which they received Christmas 1974.....my own Mego journey began in an unknown year when I recieved the Hall of Justice playset and both Batman and Robin instead of the prized SUPERMAN action figure that I wanted.

I had always thought it was between 1977-1979 but now I know for sure what year it actually was.

The reason I know this is because of a particular memory that I wasn't even conscious of until I was flipping through Benjamin's book the other day and it clicked.

Back in 1997 When I discovered Ebay and began to see other examples of carded action figures I thought it was weird that they all had round hole punches....since I distinctly remember that my figures had what I know know to be the "butterfly" hole punches. Now I realize that my Batman and Robin were released on the 1977A Card. This makes a lot of sense since that time frame fits when I was hooked on the Superfriends...resulting in my obsession with the Hall of Justice. It also makes sense that even though there was another card issued before Christmas of 1977....Batman and Robin were "the last two left" according to my mom...and probably were sitting on the store shelves for quite some time waiting on someone to buy them.

So...nothing earth shattering, but now I am certain I began my Mego journey at 4 years old instead of at 5 or 6 as I had thought before. This explains why my Batman and Robin are totally trashed....and why after tying up my brother's first release Spidey with my mom's yarn....I inadvertantly cut his costume to shreds when I freed him.

My other brother's "Question Man" action figure somehow survived the scissors, but alas I believe to have been lost in the sea of our backyard grass at a later date.....only my Batman/Robin and HOJ stayed with me over the years until this day despite over 2 dozen family moves to 4 different states when I was a kid.....which is a miracle in and of itself....probably only possible because it was clutched to my chest during each and every move instead of in a box somewhere.

Ah...the good 'ol days!

This book definitely re-opens the "flood gates" of memories. Glad you were able to put things in place.
