Its never really too early. Best weekend of the year for me. There's literally no chance you'll regret making the trip. Between the motel and venue its relatively inexpensive. Most of your funds will be gas and toys.

I go to Chicago Comicon and GenCon in Indiana every year. Mego Meet is the one I am very anxious for. My wife is actually planning on coming with me. Usually, it's me and some buddies. This will be a treat! I am pretty stoked. Wish there was a mini meet close by. LOL My collection is growing. I will be putting up pics soon. Doesn't compare to most around here, but just starting.

I gotta say that it is one AWESOME ride on the Harley to get there. It's about 6 hours or so from my house, but I take the non-highway trip so that stretched it out to a little over 10 hours. But what a beautiful ride.

I hear ya. I am hoping to do a lot of trading. Just getting there and the adventure is my plan! If I can bring home one cool piece for my collection and have had a great time, that's a win in my book.

Laura (little Ed) and I started talking about 2012 meet on the way home from the 2011 meet :) one of the best weekends of the year every time!

I'm pretty sure those are the dates - the 2nd weekend in June. My youngest won't make it - they changed the school year this year and he gets out a week later than usual. He'll be taking exams when I leave on the 7th. So it will either be just me or me and the oldest.

dunno...never heard how it ended with Chris calling em up.

I like their food.
i like the environment.
I love the company :silly:

But that service was terrible.
Wasn't it Ed and Lil Ed who got leftover bread from another table served to them? Didn't Dave Lee get leftover salad off someone's table?

Plus, the staff frowning down on us like we were some huge inconvenience didn't help matters.

if we go back this year, we should spell out our expectations in advance.

I think a constructive conversation with management will go a long way...it's not like we are a rowdy group.

I think something was already said. It was always like it was an inconvenience to serve us. That was always the biggest issue to me. If they were nice, I could get by the fact that they don't seem to have a clue. I think they pull bar help to assist with the big party and that PO's them. I've had friendly waitresses who were horrible. Not everyone is cut out for that job but do it because they have to. I can always accept that. But not being rude on top of it.

I have no issues if we go to Hoss's twice myself. They have always been courteous, and we don't even make plans with them, we just show up. I think we were close to 20 this year. The price is better and the food is good. Plus they have the ice cream bar for the kids. The salad bar is pretty good too. Most of the early arrivals are solo so we don't often have as many young ones on Thursday night. If they gave us the room they usually do there could probably be a separate kids table on the side.

I've never been to Hoss's (we don't get there early enough on Thursday night). So I wouldn't mind giving them a shot. It won't break my heart if we do not go back to Undos. Last year was totally uncalled for.

Chris Johnson and I are starting to put things together now. I expect that we'll have something to say very soon about the 'To Undo or not to Undo' dilemma. We also need to start warning Hoss' from now on considering our ever-growing numbers. It was no big deal to just show-up with 7 people, but now that we are pushing well over 20 on Thursday evening they need to be able to plan to have the instant pudding ready.

I was thinking that same thing as I was typing the earlier post. Thursday has grown considerably in the past years.

All I will say at this point is that YOU (in particlar) need to be there this year.

Two years ago I was all set to attend, even had car pooling set up with Joe Spaminato. Then I find out that my son's high school graduation was that Friday night. Needless to say, the wife wasn't gunna let me out of that :hello: so I had to cancel. Then last year, I am actually at the hotel on Thursday and dinner at Hoss's Thursday evening. Most of you know what happened Friday morning, so another meet missed. I am hoping third time is the charm this year, but it will be disappointing if Brian isn't there.

The terrific thing is that the hotel is really dog friendly. We brought ours two years ago and it worked out great. The staff is totally cool about it.

I hope you and Nate join in with the rest of the cosplayers this year!

Anyone going to the show for the first time need not worry... Just follow any of the heavy set balding middle aged dudes to the end of the hall on the first floor where the Mego suite is (a hotel room dedicated to hanging out in). There are usually guys hanging around just outside the door on the end as well having a smoke or a beer or both.

Other clues that folks might be there for mego meet.. Superhero t-shirts. Conversations centering around vintage toys. Honestly not hard to miss those there for Mego Meet, and no need to be shy.

This is only my third show and everyone is wonderfully welcoming in my experience.

There are no invitations for the Suite. You simply need to show up and introduce yourself. It usually starts about an hour after we return from Hoss's on Thursday night and an hour or so after the Meet closes Fri and Sat. It runs until the wee morning hours. It is very informal. (You must wear clothing.) Wives and siblings are welcome. Realize we may get out of hand and may not censor ourselves sometimes. You can bring your own drinks and snacks. We usually have some stuff available. The fridge is open use and on the honor system. I'll also make my fridge available for overflow which is next door in the adjoining room.

I'll be bringing my 9 year old son for the first time, and the wife for the third time. Not sure how much hanging out in the suite time I'll get, but I'll atleast stop in once. Any plans to continue the races out on the sidewalk? I know my boy would love that!

Just follow any of the heavy set balding middle aged dudes to the end of the hall on the first floor where the Mego suite is (a hotel room dedicated to hanging out in).

Some of us are bald on purpose :smiley1:

I am bringing quite a few boxes of items that I have not really sorted through or tried to sell. Stuff I have kinda been saving since I decided I was going to attend Mego Meet. I am thinking I am going to be taking offers (cash & trade). I am really hoping people will enjoy the idea of "digging" through.

This is torture! I don't know why I'm reading posts of people gearing up for mego meet when I will be 3000 miles away. I feel like the destitute child at the orphanage window watching all the families gather around the xmas tree in the town hall. boo-hoo.. some day...:muh::grin::ugh_y:

Only one more sleep until Mego Meet! I's just gots me a big ol' pile o' yo Yanquee Dollahs out of Le Banque, dusted off me passport, and gathered my car-snacks.

Looking forward to seeing all my Mego Pals. Friendship is Magic.

I thank god I have direct deposit and am getting paid Friday. I took some money out of but have to leave a decent amount in there for gas and such. My bank account is already crying and I haven't even left yet!

OK. Off to bed soon. Up at 6am and off to the airport. As much as I enjoyed the drives in with Johnny and Doc, it's tough to scoff at the whopping 1 hour and 45 minute flight. Meeting Jimmy at the airport, and driving in to Wheeling. It's Meet Time Baby!!!! See some of ya tomorrow.

I was planning to bring Red Skull - but discovered I had no more makeup this evening...and the local store to match it is closed.
No room in the car for Iron Man.

I'm a day behind schedule...but still not late.

I will be leaving early Friday morning with Berto, Doc, and +1 :wink_y: ...my goal is to get there between 2-3 PM so I can grab me some shut-eye before the Pizza arrives.

Though it would have been nice to get there Thursday...Life got in the way this year, but not so much that it prevented us from coming at all.
