two years in a row the boss the boss gave the crew (all two of us at the time) a spiral ham. This year the crew (just me... other guy quit back in April) got nada... what about your place of work? Ham? Turkey? Stick in the eye? Nothing from the ungrateful S O B?

When I worked at Leviton, they gave them out at Thanksgiving & Christmas. They were a great company to work for. I never should have left.

we use to get a $25 gift card for Giant Eagle, but when the new owners bought us 2 years ago they stopped doing that, and Chistmas bonus too. So much for working for a world leader huh!

For the record I don't care about the ham, it was the lack of respect in this instance.

4 employers ago I would get both a turkey and a ham at Thanksgiving time.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't think it's a reflection of lack of respect. It's really just the lack of business these days. Economy sucks. Look at E-bay and how many people are selling those hard to find figures. It's just nuts out there.
Hope you have a great holiday with you and yours!

I don't know if I can agree, we ship 1.5 million dollars a month at work, our EAP is just over 1 million. So the money is there they just aren't being appriciative.

Personally, I think the turkey/ham thing is more of a blue/collar...white collar thing. My dad was blue collar and received sprial sliced hams, etc. which he appreciated as did I. I work in a white collar profession so it would probably be degrading for me to hand a turkey or spiral sliced ham to someone who makes more than the average Joe. I do give them Christmas gifts (0n my own dime) usually bottles of wine or a good bag of coffee.

Yeah, Sunday we had the company President and one of the VPs in, and she asked me how things were going (she obviously knows the numbers). I told her last week I was up 30% over a year ago, and she said, "Okay, let's go for 40!" Some guys were lucky to keep up w/ inflation, and I'm smoking them on EBITDA and effective rate; still, there's no positive feedback. That kind of stuff makes me want to coast, rather than actually apply myself. No one in my zone has my kind of numbers, but it's just like it's expected--we never hear anything when everything's going excellent, only a demand for action plans when things aren't perfect. I appreciate having a job in this economy, but it's like every day is an audition.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

No, my job doesn't give out turkeys or hams. Though they do hire quite a few. ;)
My husband's employer gives out pies and I must say they are pretty good pies.

We don't give out turkeys or hams at my office, but we do provide a full meal with all the fixin's for those that have to work today. You just reminded me I need to go get some cash to tip the delivery crew when they get here.

Andy, I had no idea we worked for the same employer. Cool.
All I get for THanksgiving is a 15-hour day of hell and grief afterwards if we don't make our sales goals. Happy holidays...

I work two jobs. My full-time job is for a large medical facility that ran a multi-million dollar profit, and they give out nothing. Nada. My supervisor didn't even wish us a Happy Thanksgiving, except to tell everyone to be in on time Friday. Hopefully at Christmastime he'll be visited by a trio of ghosts.
Wel get nothing for Christmas either, except for a boxed lunch prepared by the cafeteria.
My part-time job is for a large company as well, but every employee in the company will get a package in the mail next week with an assortment of their products and an exclusive gift of some sort. Last two years it was a piece of luggage, before that a collectible basket of the Longenberger style.
