Rubber or vinyl?

Loving the book but wondering about all the references to heads and other things being rubber when I always thought of them as vinyl. Of course it must be a different rubber then the latex base rubber I always identify as rubber across the board.

If it is derived from latex rubber I'd be curious to know how they modify it to be like the rubber used for the heads and footwear such as Robin's.

Along that note...
After reading the section on Iron Man, it says the head was made or red rubber painted yellow..?.
Wasn't it made of yellow rubber and painted red???? I could have sworn both of mine were yellow rubber painted red NOT red rubber painted yellow. I had faint spots of yellow coming trough on my red on the back of the head.

No, you're right, the head is yellow. I've noticed a few things that slipped by the proofreaders, but it happens, and I certainly won't hold that against such a great book.

i've never been a rubber man myself ....

yeah they do that so the readers have a treasure hunt while reading through the book.
