    1976 Marx Playset Catalog

Marx was always known for their playsets and action figures but in 1976 they were poised to be one of the early entries into the world of 3 3/4" action figures with a series of generic environments.

Sadly it looks like buyers were indifferent to the concept, so we never got a 3 3/4" Johnny West figure to my knowledge. .

Those blister carded cut-away vehicles are so neat!
I'd love to have one of those huge mountain playsets today.

Those were produced and, as I recall, weren't very interesting; there was a huge disparity in the scales of the various vehicles to the figures, plus the vehicles had no moving parts and lacked detail.

I'd love to have one of those huge mountain playsets today.
What with a recent revival theatre showing of The Guns of ... , I've been on lookout for a Navarone set (which doesn't acknowledge the movie but is pretty clearly based on it) on eBay; not after MIB necessarily, though looking like that may be the only way to get one that's complete. All of which totals up to a couple hundred $ investment; not sure I'm THAT interested ...

I have some of the pieces from the Navarone set. Got it in a huge lot of old toys at an antique mall, to get a minty Mego Pocket Superman inside. Now I know where all those yellow beds came from!

Where do you get this stuff from? I have never seen a greater passion for toys.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

So sad they never made them. I would kill for those 3 + 3/4" western figs.
            I like toys.
