    1981 Collegeville Costume Catalog

Followers of this site and blog will know that Collegeville is a favourite subject around here, that's likely because I got a ton of these as a kid combined with the fact that they got some really cool licenses.

This is a Canadian version of the Catalog (by a company called Norbin) and I highly suspect that some of the masks and other sundries come from sources other than Collegeville.

1981 was an interesting year, we have staples that have been around since the early 1970s and hot new licenses like Thundarr the Barbarian, Mightyman and Yuck, Fangface, Star Trek: The motion picture, Clash of the Titans and many more.

There were Thundaar costumes? Why am I just learning about this now!?! Thx for posting. I need to check out Plaidstallions more often. It's such a cool site.

Slight correction to something I posted yesterday: Collegeville is about 20 minutes from Philly. My brother works there (the town) but doesn't know where the factory is located.

If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I am impressed to find out about both Thundar and Clash of the Titans costumes.

Wanted: Legends of the West (Empire & Excel) and other western historically-based figures. Send me an offer.
Also interested in figures based on literary characters.

I think those generic heroes were pretty groovy. And I love some Saturday morning goodness w/ Mighty Man and Yukk!

I think that Wolfman mask illustration is similar to one that ran in comic ads along with the 7 foot tall Frakenstein, x-ray specs, etc.

That one version of "The Spider" is a bit too close for Marvel's comfort!

It is the exact same one.

"The Joker" shows up in Kingdom Come in the bar scene. He pulls the Human Bomb's finger!

I'm with you. I would have loved going as Thundarr or even Ookla.
