The involvement of JJ Abrams is intriguing.
Given that we are now at a point where a character can have a translucent body and a silver head, it will be interesting to see how close they might stick to the original designs.

^^^Depending on what version of The Micronauts they decide to make. I'm guessing they will do Time Travellers as all CGI, (even the robots: Biotron and Microtron could be done all CGI). The TT will have to be based on whichever actor plays Commander Rann/Space Glider. If they pick up on Bill Mantlo's finer nuances in the comic book I think that's the best version they can produce.

It's doubtful that they will go with the Marvel characters now (no Commander Rann, no Mari/Marionette and no Bug)...Its much more likely they will use the new Toy storyline (which seems to be borrowing from Bill Mantlo's ideas and the more recent Micronauts storyline from Image/Devil's Due comics).

Hey folks, I'm new here...so forgive me if this has already been asked...but who would be your ideals in the Micronauts casting call? This can be Marvel, Mantlo or more recent, what have you?
Vinge Rames as Acroyer for me. And Clancy Brown as Baron Karza.

My suspicion? Not much. They'll be over-busy designs with pipes, tubing and a zillion functioning internal organs all pulsing at once. I bet the plot will be similar to the original Japanese one though.... not on purpose, but 'cos it's so close to the Transformers movies.

JJ Abrams has last been associated with it. Just keep Michael Bay the hell away from it. He blew his load with the first Transformers movie.

As a long-time Micronauts fan, I think it will be cool to see big-screen incarnations of Baron Karza and Acroyear amongst others. The only thing is, they'll need to be very careful how they approach it or Karza could come off as second rate Darth Vader...

Maybe Rachel McAdams as Mari, (I photoshopped that image for comparison).

If JJ Abrams is going to make a movie I'm guessing he read the comic book from Marvel as a kid. I would hope he draws from that source. It's a pretty solid storyline & the more popular mythology in the US.

I just saw this thread. A Micronauts movie? Awesome! Too bad it won't be won't be based on the Marvel charactes, but as long as I get to see Acroyear on the big screen, I'll be happy. :-)
