I've been traveling like crazy this year...I actually just got back from Martinsburg, WV on Friday and was supposed to go to Memphis, TN this Monday but I had to cancel those arrangements...

Anyway...I've been sneeking a minute here and there to post comments I've been wanting to make...

Again...Anyway...

I come home Friday afternoon and go through my mail and nothing. I've noticed others saying they received their's and they had ordered around the same time as myself (beginning of March '07)...so I check Amazon and it states that it's been shipped...OK...I guess it will be here soon.

Friday closes and Saturday is spent raking leaves all day...I see the Postman coming with envelopes but no package...so I shrug it off as another day. My son who is out there jumping into piles of wet leaves decides he's tired of helping so he goes inside to start his weekend reading.

Several hours go by and I'm finally done raking and decide to go upstairs to clean myself up...I pass by my son's room (to get to mine) and I notice he is on the bed reading...

I pause and step back into the doorway to make sure I saw what I thought...

Now, Ben's book, at a quick glance is about the same size as one of those DK Books they have, you know the ones that explain everything about Characters & Teams...My son has the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, & The JLA.

So...My son is suppose to be reading chapter books for school and those books (DK) don't qualify (though I'm fine with them ).

...as I stand there in the doorway and try to focus on which DK Book he is reading I'm struck in the face with the reality that it's Ben's Book!!!

I quickly ask my son, "Where did you get that?"...he responds, "You gave it to me."...I ask, "What do you mean, I gave it to you?"...

He begins to explain that my wife got the order on Thursday and when she opened it she said, "Look what Daddy ordered for you."

...Thanks Honey...

I quickly grab my camera and take a shot because my brother is not going to believe me when I tell him:

After I take the picture, he starts to ask me about some of the toys.

Now the only Mego's he has are Spiderman & Superman courtesy of of his Uncle and King Arthur & Lancelot courtesy of Paul (Hulk)...along with a plethora of Mego Museum Cards

Most of his questions are about Playsets...Wayne Foundation, Batcave, etc., ...then he floors me with Aquaman & the White Shark and wanting to know that if it had a battery in it for the propeller, why you would play with this in the bathtub and electrocute yourself.

Now the geek doesn't fall far from the tree, but this book really had my son engaged with a ton of questions that I tried my best to answer (thankfully I have THE book for that ).

...so thats my tale of the book that got away...

I'll have to sneek a couple of more peeks after he goes to bed

Awesome story Tom! Too funny, although somehow fitting that the kid gets to read the book about toys before Dad does.

I bet he'll have a whole lot more interest in Uncle Berto's collection now though.

Cool story....
But a little FYI, I don't know if this toy is battery operated or not, but there are tons of toys that have batteries that can be played with in the tub or pool and be safe.
Gi Joes, and Micronauts both have battery operated toys to go in the tub or pool as countless of others. I know, I have played with both in the tub as a child.

I was expecting the end of the story to "go bad", as you fly into a fit of rage and rampage insanely through the house dealing out savage beatings to all responsible for depriving you of your dolly book.

But it's Christmas, so this ending was fine.

Yes, after looking after the book, AM Shark is battery operated for bathtub use.
