    Baron Karza!

Back on July 29 I made a post on my blog about my birthday. I said if anybody still wants to get me anything, here's a list of classic toys I would like. I never expected anyone to actually send me anything. But someone mailed me a Baron Karza! The box has a name and address on it, but I don't know who they are. And how did they get my address? I don't know, but thanks mystery person!

Too Cool. Karza and Force Commander are two of my top five favorite toys ever. I'll have to do some eBay research and see the going rates for those.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I just found out that it was my brother.
He bought it on eBay and had the seller mail it to me.
        That's why I didn't recognize the name.
I have the best brother ever!
I already have Force Commander. Now they can battle!

Sure he was derivative of both Doc Doom and Darth Vader, but I always dug Baron Karza----especially when Michael Golden was pencilling him....!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

Karza is Azark backwards (Azark is the last name of AHI owner). It was a Mego jab to their competition.

              Sigh... Oh, not again.

              Karza predates Vader.

Karza, Vader and Doom are all the classic European "Black Knight" icon, which predates both of them by quite some time. (Vader just has Samurai armor for his motif.)

"Karza rips off Vader" is to Ray what "Not getting Star Wars killed Mego" is to us.

1st off Ray is right! 2nd Karza is more bad ***** then Vader and 3rd if it wasn't for Lucas going with Kenner, we probably wouldn't be enjoying this website as much.

How do you figure? The Micronaughts comic book was 1979, the toy of Karza was produced in 1977 and was released in 1978. Karza was not part of the original 1976 Micronaughts designs. While Darth Vader was in concept drawings in 1974 and 1975. At best, Karza appears a year or more after Vader. Now, that is not to say Karza was a knock off of vader, that I would disagree with, the only simularities are that he is black and has a mouth grill.
My posts were needlessly deleted ...

The Mego figure "Baron Karza" was introduced at a comics convention in New York in 1976, a year before George Lucas introduced the world to Darth Vader.

Baron Karza. Very cool toy. I always thought Mantlo's (one of my favorite Marvel writers of the Bronze Age, BTW) portrayal of him in the comic was way over the top. So much so that I found his character a bore.

The toy, though, he was the real coolness.
