We appreciate all your hard work and effort that brought us at least 21 new DC Superhero Mego Action Figures that did not previously exist.
Just to put it into perspective... Mego only made 18 different DC characters at the 8" scale (not counting Tarzan and Isis).
Thanks to EMCE, there are now 15 DC characters in Mego format that did not exist two years ago. Nothing anyone says can take away from that accomplishment.

Agreed. Thanks for everything that was done.
I wonder if there will come a time when Doc can say what figures were sculpted but not produced? Obviously, Doc was not allowed to talk about unreleased figures, but when will this change since the line is ending?

Sad to read this news this morning. This line gave us some great figures to fill-in the gaps of what Mego provided to us many moons ago. The stand-outs for me continue to be Superman and the Green Lantern. Hats off for all the hard work that went into bringing this line to market.

I would like to thank you both, too, Paul and Joe. I'm not so sad for myself as I am for the kids who won't know the 8" magic we knew as kids back in the day. I just kept hoping it would catch on, via their parents. It's ashame there were no commerical spots on Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Nickelodeon. But I'm grateful the dream was alive for awhile. And I'm also grateful for EMCE and drmego.com where we can get parts to keep the dream alive, if only for ourselves. And I have faith you guys will find a way to make it happen again...someday. Good luck to you both.

Thanks from a Mego purist "super collector." I enjoy this line very much and am as unhappy about the news as everyone else.

Big thanks for doing all that you did. When I got that first re mego, I was transported back in time. Without your vision Paul, I wouldn't have dug out my collection and enjoy them as much now as ever.
As far as the corporate weasels that you dealt with. They are fools to let this line die because of whatever bull crap excuses they made. This line in my opinion was gaining ground and would have thrived. The problem was they did not know how to distribute properly, put the right bodies on them, and down right blew it.
Paul, thank you for all you did. You did an amazing thing for us lovers of the greatest toys ever made and we are eternally grateful. It was my pleasure to meet and chat with at mego meet. I know if I need something for my collection, you are the man to go to.
Better yet, you are the man.
Thanks a billion

Thank you guys for trying bring back the childhood toys and allow Mattel to "modernize" them just to compramise to get the product in our hands.
What you did is still here (the figures...etc and they'll always be all over ebay....trading...selling.......)
You gave it your best. I am a little sick to my stomach about it but that's how life goes. You take a gamble and sometimes it don't work.
Best of luck with you guys and hopefully Mr. Clarke never stops the dream and he'll never give up!
I dedicate this little diddy to you all....

I too want to say thanks for what all you guys did accomplish. It really was no small feat. And while this line may be gone your legacy will remain. And that's only the super heroes. May none of us discount all the even better work you guys have done, are doing and will be doing.
Much love!

Paul, Joe, words can't express my admiration and appreciation for everything you did to bring the Retro Heroes to life and our collections. You caught a lot of praise, you caught some (undeserved) flack, but all in all, you delivered, and delivered like bosses! 15 brand new heroes and villains! Revamps of several classic heroes - we now have the Big 7 of the JLA thanks to you lot!
You guys, along with your partners, employees, etc. carried on the Mego legacy by filling in the gaps, and giving a whole new generation access (when possible) to a new level of fun. Well done, all of you!
OK, so this is the end of the road for the DC Retro Heroes. Far from the end of the road for EMCE, however. Dr. Who, Twilight Zone, Venture Bros. all on the horizon. Possible reappearances from Star Trek and Dark Shadows (maybe?). Plus more Universal Monsters! Zombies! Who knows what else?
All right, enough praise - I got some open shelf space here - I needs more EMCE stuff! GET BACK TO WORK! ;)
Also, extra special kudos and salutes to Mr. Marty Abrams himself, the man who started it all! Our childhoods would have been much less terrific without you and the original Mego crew, sir!

I have not been this saddened by an end of a toy line in many many many years. Last time I was this bummed out by the end of a toy line was about 25 years ago with the end of JEM. This line was like seeing all the figures from my childhood I always wanted being done like: Cheetah, Black Manta, Sinestro, Captain Cold, Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman finally done right.
My godson asked me for the 2nd wave for his birthday(Batman was the reason of course) and when he got them and was so excited! It was like going back in time. I can remember Mike being that excited when we got mego's when we were kids.
I am so thankful we got what we did and I'm so glad you guys made these and I thank you for the new memories I got from them. I will really miss this line :(
I supected this was coming when I asked many TRU manager's about these figures and all of them told me the same thing. They were no longer carrying the line. I hoped there was some explanation and my logical thinking was was off, sadly it wasn't, it was just as I had feared. I continued to hope the line would continue as an online exclusive series like Mattel had done with other lines. I'm still hoping this can happen.

It wasn't that long ago that it was considered fact that we would never see any Mego Super heroes...the shock of finding out what Paul was up to was inspiring, but still hard to believe. Its amazing what you guys have accomplshed, and you have brought Megos to my children. Thank you for that. THanks for everything guys, its been a great run. Its my Hope that we someday see the Marvel Heroes to follow.

It was great while it lasted! Wasnt it? To walk into a toystore and see those 8" guys on card again. Like stepping through a timewarp and ending up in a K-mart in the 70's. But thanks to Doc. My Mego quest still continues. Though major corporations like Mattel have dropped out of the Mego Market. People like Doc will help me create more customs to fill my ranks. Keep 'em flying Paul!

Yeah Paul, Joe, and Co... HUGE thanks. It's hard for me to imagine anyone being more upset at the news than you guys considering all the work you put into this.
We're all bummed now but I have faith there will be more awesome in the near future, not to mention the other great lines being put out.
... So Paul... About those Marvel guys...

I also want to extend my gratitude to Paul, Joe, and EMCE for helping get this line made. I just picked up Shazam! from Amok Time today and he is awesome. Thanks for the awesomeness. Now contact Hasbro and make some Marvel figures. ;-)

I'll chime in with thanks to Paul, Joe and all the talented folks here who worked on these figures. I think they deserved a much better avenue of distribution, and a lot more support from Mattel. I hope that something can be worked out where the line will continue. But even it doesn't, it is a nice line that will be fondly remembered, and will always have a place in my collection. And my kids will remember them too!!!

yeah,my thanks to the dr.emce etc ,and yes to mattel also, it was sure fun to see most of these at retail, when i saw wave 2 at toys r us express with superman ,all those childhood mego superheros memories came racing back, going through the figures with my fingers was really a thrill, and then carrying them to the checkout, and telling a uninterested clerk about buying these type toys 35 years ago,it was fun.

Many thanks to Paul and Joe and everyone who made what we did receive happen!
People have mentioned already how it made them feel to see and buy these as we did in the days of old, but it wasn't until my son (who just turned five) started to play with them that I realized just how much fun they were to even kids of today. He's been asking for the last several months when more of the "Figures Where the Clothes Come Off" (as he calls the line) will be coming. While he's happy to get more in the form of the Green Lanterns, I know what he really wants more than any other character would be Robin.
Hopefully Mattel will choose to release the last six discussed in some form or another. As I said elsewhere, I can't really see how releasing the undone major Super/Bat characters, if nothing else, can be a bad thing.
If not, well, it's back to customizing. And thanks to Doc that's at least still a possibility!

Along with the heart felt thanks to Paul and Joe, I cannot stop thinking about the day in 2009 when we got our first look at the first wave. Everyone was excited. We all had that kid in us come alive again. I remember seeing Green Arrow's picture first posted on the forum here. I just could not believe it.:please_y: And then the thoughts of what was to come. Man this line really got me and so many others. Of course the line got its negative but it did get a huge amount of possitive. Each wave that came out gave everyone something to look forward to that they had not had to look forward to in such a long time. But now we see that reality, for whatever it is, puts this new MEGO line to bed. We wish that we can get just a few more figures, but we know that may not happen. Lets just appreciate what Dr. Mego and Joe gave us and wait to see what the offcial outcome is really going to be. If we do not get more Retro Action DC Super Heroes than lets celebrate on what we did get. From all of this we can say in a very strong voice....."MEGO LIVES"!!!!!!!!

The DC Retro line was a blast! Thank you so much. You guys did the impossible. Plus, you gave us Darkseid and Guy Gardner!!!
I love swapping the Mattel bodies with the Dr. Mego or Cast-a-way bodies and having Toyroom or Mego73 make retro style boxes (cards take up too much room). It was a great run.
Now that the line is in it's twilight we're freed up to make any DC character we want. First up: Alter Ego Barry Allen and Vigilante.

Dr Mego has been the biggest single contributor to Mego collecting since Mr Abrams! From repro parts, to all the 8 inch Mego style greatness that we've seen in the past several years, and so much more still to come. It's obvious every time you talk to Paul- He's just as big a fan as anyone- not some corporate stuffed shirt. Thanks buddy for how hard you've worked, and for all you've accomplished!!

I know I love having most of the retro figures on a shelf in my toyroom, but I also know I love playing with the ones I gave my 4 year old son even more. It all just took me back 35 years ago. Thanks for getting them made, thanks for more fond memories of playing with this kind of toy.

Couldn't agree more. The best thing about the Mattel figures has been "playing Megos" with my boy. Thanks so much, Joe and Paul, for helping make that happen! I know this is probably a setback, but with everything else you have on the horizon, I am sure you will have lots more success in the toy business.

I finally got my Green Lantern because of you Guys so a big Thank you from me for making that Happen!
Yes! In my opinion, Green Lantern would have been a bargain at TWICE the price! I got a factory made suit, a hand with a molded on ring, and a lantern- all for $20. Before Retro Action, I paid way more than that for just a head and suit- with no ring and no lantern.
