I love little retro gadgets like this.
Some mini reviews.
Atari 10 Video classics.
Adventure, Gravitar,Circus Atari, Pong, Missile Command, Centipede, Yars Revenge, Asteroids, Breakout and Real Sports Volleyball.
Love the look of it. Very close to an actual 2600 joystick. Just a little thicker to house the batteries and power buttons. The emulation on this is not bad. I think it must be an NES on a chip design because the sounds are all a little off. Overall a nice selection of games. Pong, Circus Atari and Breakout don't control all that well with with the joystick though. The high points being Missile Command and Asteroids. They look and play great. Centipede is a little off and is faster than the real 2600 version.
Atari 13 Paddle Games.
Steeple Chase, Demons to Diamonds, Street Racer, Pong, Canyon Bomber, Circus Atari, Arcade Warlords, Warlords, Video Olympics, Breakout Super Breakout, Casino and Night Driver.
Not as authentic looking as the Joystick. It still resembles the classic paddle. Just a bigger heavier version of it. It has three more games than the 2600 stick but three of them are Pong. Video Olympics, Pong and Arcade Pong. Arcade Pong being the best of the three. The games control well and look and sound as they should. The best of the games are Warlords and Arcade Warlords. Where the paddle really excels is with its terrific option screen in the games. You have a virtual Atari sixer to set the game options like you would on an actual Atari. Pretty neat. The game select screen is also really cool and look like virtual Atari cartridges.
Some people might find the games really archaic and probably not a whole lot of fun and to be fair some of them have not aged all that well. But I think old school Atari fans will dig them and find them a great value. Oh, yeah, and they both work just fine on modern LCD HDTVs.
