I was wondering if anyone knew when the action figures based on the movie "The Golden Compass" are scheduled to be realeased. The movie opens 12-7 so I would think it should be soon but I can't find any information.

FAO Schwarz has the Tonner dolls along with some stuffed animals. Just got their catalog last week.

This movie will probably stir up more controversy than the Davinci Code or any of the Harry Potter movies.

Thanks for the info. guys.

The movie has been stripped of the elements from the novel that could be considered
anti-religious or anti-Catholic. Nicole Kidman has said she would not have done the movie
if it was anti-Catholic. The Catholic League is planning to protest against the movie.

I haven't read any of the books in the series so I can only speak from what I have read in the newspaper and the controversy surrounding it but these things get so blown out of proportion these days.

I am a practicing Roman Catholic and they did the same thing with the DaVinci Code. I read the book and thought it was a good piece of fiction. I didn't think the movie was very good but that's just my opinion. I also didn't know there really is a group of Catholics who wear those barbed wire chains around parts of their body....that's just downright creepy.

That practise goes back a long time...creepy indeed, and barbaric...

The Golden Compass at FAO Schwarz (http://www.fao.com/catalog/thumbnail.jsp?categoryId=660&index=0&viewAll=true)

FAO Schwartz has come up with some...I love the Iorek and Mrs Coulter's naughty Golden Monkey Daemon. Lord Asriel's Snow Leopard is pretty cool too.

All my TRU has are tons of polar bears and smaller scale ships.

I just happened into TRU last night looking for something else but also saw that a large shipment of figures had just arrived. I think they had just about everything.

The likeness to Daniel Craig is amazing for a 4 inch figure.
