View Full Version : 2011 MegoMeet Exclusive Figure Teaser

Hey,
Wow, what do you know - I'm late on releasing the info on the MegoMeet Exclusive.
That is so unusual - I'm never late on anything (OK, try not to choke on your own vomit).
Anyway, we shall have an abreviated mystery period. As always, three hints as to the identity of the figure, although this year will probably be MUCH easier to guess than my crazy hints last year.
1) This figure fits in with an already existing Mego line, right down to the clam shell packaging.
2) This character has proven to be the most costly and hardest to acquire the licensing for, only has been successful once in the history of this brand.
3) HFM
Mondo easy for some, a bit harder for others. As always, keep the answer to yourself - announcement will come May 1st.

3. HFM = Human Figure Model...unless there's a Mego-specific version. So, it's a real person.
2. It's not a standard superhero character, but a character/someone who's only had success once in the history of action figure lines...which means it's been acquired more than one time.
1. Fits in with "an already existing Mego Line", so something beyond WGSH. And "Clamshell Packaging", so not a box.

I suggested to Chris today that maybe he should finish the 2011 figures early so that he can get a head start on his insane project for 2012. His response:
" 'Early' ...I've heard of that word, but I'm not sure that I understand the meaning."
So, yeah, it looks like you guys will be putting the 2011 figure together the night before too. :smiley1:

Considering 2012's figure was already chosen prior to MM 2010, yeah it'll still be built in a top secret West Virginia location in June 2012. But it will be the best one to date, I guarantee it. I don't mind the dolly dress up fest. It's always a laugh a minute.

I'll say this about the figure: There is a pretty large demographic that will think this figure is AWESOME! But there are probably quite a few people who will not be familiar with this character at all. Of all of the exclusives, this one may be the most obscure for many Mego collectors.

Hey,
Don't know if I truely agree with that. Mighty Mightor and Kromedome were probably more obscure as figures, but, at least for me, this figure is a labor of love. I have wanted to make this figure for the last 10 years, so having it as the exclusive and making 40 of them is a great end of a long long journey.
And I did give the answer on the newest podcast - not sure if it will come out before Sunday or not, but there is a teaser for those who listen.

I think this character is a great choice and didn't mean to sound negative about it; I was really just adding to the list vague hints! :smiley1: For the average person, I agree with you completely, but I did specify that this character may be more obscure for many Mego collectors. I think a lot of Mego collectors would be familiar with Mightor and Kromedome just from threads here and information on the Mego Museum, but if you aren't a fan of the source material for this character, I don't think you'd know about him from hanging out here or general conversation in your daily life...unlike Ghost Rider or Indiana Jones where whether your a fan or not, you've probably at least heard of them.
