Other Stuff to do in Wheeling area?

Me and the fam may make a vacation out of MM this year. Do you guys know anything else to do around Wheeling or surrounding area that is kid friendly/fun for the whole family?

We are doing the same thing this year. My wife was looking at this site for the town.

It seems like there are plenty of things to do, including "Mergo Meet"

Pittsburgh is right there you guys could catch a Pirates game maybe. St. Clairesville OH next town to Wheeling is full of shopping and stuff. There is a Oglebay Park in Wheeling, oh and kids love the Toy and train museum where the mego meet is. Last year my wife and son went and my wife loved mego meet and she hates megos if that tells you anything.

There is a MARX toy museum in Moundsville... and Coleman's fish market is a great place to eat in downtown Wheeling (Not that there is anything wrong with Hoss's)

my wife spent the day "downtown". She got a massage, visited a museum, got about 1/2 her Christmas shopping done. Of course, she didn't go back the next year. hmmm

I sent the wife to a spa at the golf course/resort facility close by. There was also a big park with hiking and a zoo there. I seem to recall there might have been some kind of amusement park somewhere as well that I ran across in my research.

Not really a heck of a lot to do downtown from what she told me. I think there was glass blowing, maybe a farmers market and a science store?

If they like shopping, the highlands is ten minutes down the road with some decent restaurants/coffee shop, big book store, pet store, walmart, target and other Big Box retailers.

For the kids, there are enough other kids to play with at the Meet, plus them might have fun making customs.

(for anyone who's "starter kids" are pets like us, the hotel is dog-friendly)
My store in the MEGO MALL!

If you're in Pittsburgh, then the Warhol Museum gets my rec. Not nec. (the occasional nude, but nothing over the top) for the kids, but great for adults, even if you're not an art-lover per se.

cabella's at the highlands has a lot of animals in poses and a restaurant with some more exotic meats to sample-very kid friendly place to wander around in.
