    Mattel Osmond Catalog for 1978

1978 saw Mattel expand their popular "Donny and Marie" line with a new member of the Osmond family, too cute for his own good l'il brother Jimmy!

The 1978 Donny and Marie Catalog also showcases such items as Hollywood Home playset and a pile of outfits for older brother and sis. NO OUTFITS FOR YOU JIMMY!

This was the last year for this popular line, with their variety show cancelled in 1979 Mattel dropped the duo like a hot rock.

Ha! I found a Donny doll at the last toy show I went to for about $6.

My sister had Donny and Marie. I remember watching the show vaguely, but that's about it.

I can't remember WHY, but I totally loved that show, never missed it. I hated Jimmy.

Remember the episode where Lee Majors came by and realized he was a bit early? I believe SMDM came on next. Friday nights was it?
            Ahhh. Good times.

A pivotal story from my childhood: I was in cub scouts in the 2nd grade and we had to sell tickets for the annual Scout Jamboree, where all the scouts in the area would run around the local ballpark like Indians or something, I'm a little vague on what it was. But it fell on the same night as the Donny and Marie CONCERT. So I'm this huge Donny and Marie fan who not only has to miss the concert because I've got to do this lame scout jamboree but I'm going door to door to sell tickets to the thing and the answer I keep getting is "No, sorry, we're going to the Donny and Marie concert that night."

I was such a Charlie Brown....

Last year at Disney World we had to wait for the next train car on Big Thunder Railroad because Jimmy Osmond & his family were brought in the back way by the Disney folks. My 7 yr old daughter thought my explanation of who he was was silly, especially the part about the "Long Haired Lover from Liverpool".

Him and Jimmy Baio was another one. What was it with guys named Jimmy in the 70s?

                        Don't forget Jimmy McNichol.

I loved the Donny & Marie show as well, but I remember it being on opposite Wonder Woman so I only watched it during Wonder Woman's commercial breaks.

I had the Donny & Marie cordless microphone which was awesome!!!
