    Space Robots : UFO Series

The beauty of a time when you could import popular toys from other countries and even though we had (and some of us never will) see the television shows they were based on, still realise it was a kick *** toy. I see several Ultra Man villians in this assortment, anybody else recognize anything?

I'd like a few of those. Wonder how hard they are to find these days.

I had a couple of those from K-Mart when I was into Shogun Warriors.

#44946 - UFO Secret Base looks a lot like the Thunderbirds secret base to me. There even looks like a Thunderbrids rocket in green, (real one is red), standing in launch position on the back of it.

              Hmmmm....

Those are the weird robo-versions of a bunch of kaijyu; aren't they? The flying saucers are from another Japanese toy line from the early 70's. They featured little metal saucers that would shoot out. (I think.) You can see 'em in the pics.

a few years ago someone was selling a few of them near mint in the boxes

(Baltan, the ape, red king, etc)

they all went in the 200-600$ range

I had asked the seller for any more info (and box pics) on them if he had it (which he supplied and I have archived here somewhere). Many years back in the early 80's I had a National geographic type magazine made for kids. On the cover was some "world's toy fair of 1981-1983". In the background on the shelf was the Mecha ape. I did what I could to try and find that awesome robot back then but no luck. It was not until I stumbled upon the ebay auction that I learned about them

the attention and style to detail these toys had back then is amazing. Had they come out now I can see them being a 2 color plastic piece of sh*t
