What breed a Bathound?

I'm thinking of doing an Ace the Bathound to go with 8" figures but am wondering what breed of dog would be the best as a base to start with. A brown dog with ears the are pointy and stand straight up always said German Sheppard to me.

Any other suggestions?

They make one to go with the animated line. A shepard would work fine.
