    New Monster Cards Revealed

Why? Ok, might as well talk about them seeing as it took less than four hours for these to get on the web. I normally enjoy the surprise people get from new cards arriving in the mail unannounced and I picked these up on Saturday night and less than one dozen are in circulation, yet here they are. The two vintage monster cards are mine, I took the inspiration from Scott's Cipsa Ape cards because they recreate the toys packaging.

I also wanted a challenge, I don't have any training in photoshop (and it shows I know) but I wanted to learn, so I started with a series of AHI monster cards. And came up with this:

I got a lot of great input from friends who made the card better. After I was done, I realised that the Lincoln Monsters are actually my favourite, my dad sold them and they are truly my childhood pals. So they needed some representation as well:

Frankie is my favourite, he goes first. I will do all of these characters plus Mr Rock, if anybody wants to sponsor them, it will happen faster but I will pay for these in increments and make them happened in the next six months.

These card series revolve around a more sinister plan of mine that I'm not ready to reveal.

Lincolnstein Not mine but it happened under my watch, the art duties went to my good pal (and patron saint of the trading cards) Steve S. who worked like a dog to make this happen and his reward was two pints of blue at a 50s diner.

The front is a gorgeous shot of the packaging artwork which I won't reveal, the back is this lovely bit Steve slaved over .

These are also part of an ongoing series (as Toyfair will reveal) and while the prez of Heroes in Action took the majority of these for toyfair, he did ask me to keep some to distribute amongst the Megomuseum board members.

    Lastly, thanks.
I had a rotten day yesterday, one where a number of different issues just had me thinking of throwing in the towel. To come on the boards and see that one of the 3 sets I left at a middling toy show (where I did not see Ed nor expect him to show up) had already been exposed and thrown on the net brought me a lot of joy. Some times you worry that nobody will care or worse, that you've made a mistake.

I spent the majority of the evening working on new cards with enthusiasm, I appreciate that.

I'm going to take a short break to recharge but before I do, the first seven people to write "PM sent" get a set of cards.

If you volunteered for to distribute mystery cards on Friday, don't bother, these are they and are already in the mail.

I think this is exactly the reason why I called you "Polk-A-Roo" (It's Canadian for "Snuffleupagus" for the International Crowd) when we finally met hundreds of miles from home, in a totally different country!

It's such a small show that I usually give it a miss, but I dropped by on a whim since I had decided to take the dog to the huge indoor dog park in Mississauga anyways since it was ridiculously cold outside. Nothing much in the way of toys, but boy did the cards make me glad I did swing by to check it out.

I'll assume I must have missed you by minutes given the fact that last set of cards was just sitting there the moment I sauntered into the joint. I have to admit, three tiny pieces of cardboard made me about as happy as scoring that Shogun Warriors Storm Trooper at the last show. Keep up the great work!

Pretty cool Brian. Glad it made your day.

I never had any of the Azrak or Linclon monsters as a kid. Actually, I don't really remember ever seeing them but I must have at one point. These might get me to pick up a few. That Frankenstein looks pretty cool on that card.
