So which version was your favorite; the 40's or the 70's? Although there were some really cool 40's eps, I prefer the 70's w/ the IADC. What's your opinion?

70s Diana Prince was a hotter babe than 40s Lt. Diana Prince. Plus she got the bike costume and the swim costume in the 70s eps. so that does it for me.

I would have to go with the Seventies version of Wonder Woman too.

The 70's version for me too.
Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone else remember the Wonder Woman episode where the alien guy Andros comes to warn Earth of their pending destruction? I don't know if it was a 40's or 70's episode, but it was a rip off of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" minus the robot Gort. I still enjoyed the episode though.

I like the 40's version better. Nazis always make great villains, and period Superhero stuff is just really appealing to me. I really wish we'd get a superhero movie set in its original time. Batman in the 30's or GL in the late 50's.

40s version hands down. After the switch to the 70s, the show lost some of it's unique qualities and essentially became the Bionic Woman with a costume. At least to me, anyway.

Lynda Carter could do no wrong when I was 8.
Most of the time I didn't even pay attention to the plot.

the first season which ran on ABC was the best so my vote is for the 4os besides not only did we get Lynda but they had another hottie that never showed up in the 70s namely a little hottie named wonder girl, and about the space alien someone asked about he appeared on both

For me it was the seventies version, especially the episdodes with the alien and when they cloned hitler nice tie back to the 40's episodes, though it did always bother me they felt the need to repeat the meeting between steve trevor and wonder woman,

I just wish the quality was better. I saw this late one night on ESPN 2 and was 12 years old again.
And if you have a few minutes, more from that episode...

I love both, but I favor the 40's they had more of a comic feel to them and some of the 70's were no more than a crime drama with Wonder Woman tossed in just so they could call it Wonder Woman.
The 70's version for me too.

I think he showed up twice once in the 40's and then again in the 70's but with a different actor playing the part. I think the 40's one is the rip off of the TDTESS
i liked "Bobby Jo and the Outlaw" lynla carter the best
but that goober guy on top of her kills the whole thing :shocked2:

40s for sure. I think they just did a better overall job on the show then. The new version had some cool WW costumes and the WW costume was better but the 40s episodes were so much better.
The 40s Alien was Andros and the 70s alien was his son. The 70s alien show was just not as good, which is pretty much the difference from 40s and 70s WW episodes.
40s version hands down. After the switch to the 70s, the show lost some of it's unique qualities and essentially became the Bionic Woman with a costume. At least to me, anyway.

Yep.
Not to mention how badly dated the 70's episodes were or how ridiculous Steve was Steve's son or that he never saw a picture of Diana with his dad. The stories were poory done rip offs of Bionic Woman.
I liked the 40's outfit better.
The 40's were well done period pieces that were straight off the comic book pages.
Even though the wonder girl episodes were far from the comics and a little corny - IT WAS DEBRA WINGER!
btw
The swimsuit was used in the 40s as well
I don't remember Lynda Carter EVER looking bad in Wonder Woman.
I preferred the 1940s episodes. The updated ones were kinda lame.

I too have to go with the Nazi era WW. It was a little darker and not quite so campy. I know I've seen all the episodes of all 3 seasons but the first season episodes stick out in my mind. I can barely remember anything about the modern era episodes. Other than Wonder Woman spinning around and suddenly being in a diver's outfit. I thought how lame is that and that's what killed the series for me. Also the one thing missing from the entire series itself was the lack of any villains from the comics. You would think the Cheetah at least would have been included in an episode or two.

I got to go with the first season 1940's episodes...they seemed more "comic booky" to me. Plus they had an episode with Roy Rogers!!! ---Whos such a wholesome guy he asked the producers to throw a few more clothes on WW..Now that takes some moral and intestinal fortitude!!

I'd go with the forties too. it didn't make sense for diana in the 70's to walk around with her hair down and no one realize she's WW. even with glasses!

I TOTALLY AGREE..!! I was mentioning this on the Marvel/DC movies thread. I wished they would have kept the FF movies back during the Cold War, a bit more retro and truer rendition of the classic FF..
WW's first year was indeed the best. I don't know why producers always think that pulling a superhero out of their time-period and making everything 'new and current' automatically means more glamour and higher ratings...??
It just takes a LOT of the style out of the presentation, and the backdrop of how we all loved the heroes back then.

Forties version for me was the best. Something about a hero or heroine dressed up in the flag fighting against the Axis is just so...patriotic & cool. It's something sorely lacking in today's comic market, as if today's creators are embarrassed by the thought of America standing up for itself.

I loved the early WWII episodes.
The later episodes just didn't work. Not because they were "modern" but because they seemed impossibly modern. Seriously, even as a kid I knew talking room sized computers were hokey.

The change had to be budget related. Doing a period show cost way more than something set in the then current 70's. Costuming, cars, props, and digging up WW2 era planes tanks etc had to hurt.

Haven't you noticed... it's not currently "politically correct" to be patriotic.
America is suffering from the worst identity crisis of it's existence.

I have to belive it was a cost saving choice. period pieces have much more busdget in sets design and costumes where has modern era makes it easier to costume extras with recycled studio props and wardrobe

Yes and no ~ I'd agree with you totally on the budget aspect that the studio always throws out.
However, if you look at that 'Astronaut Farmer' movie and other, less-blockbuster-type films, period pieces are done and their budgets are much smaller.
Granted, you can't do large-scale, hundreds of extras on streets very easily, but retro-looking shows like 'The Flash' carried it off to an extent. What I'm trying to say is that there are stylish ways to get around large budget concerns.

As someone mentioned earlier; the episodes that I have memory of were more the 40's ones rather than the contemporary ones but I did like both. I haven't seen the show since it was first-run so I have to go on that. The 40's ones seemed more memorable. Loved the theme song, though!!

Flash was following the batman motiff of stylised retro rather than true period. also that allows flexibility in costuming to use what you have available from the vehicle rental company for the least price
