View Full Version : Wheeling Super 8 - Up and Ready for Reservations!

Hey,
OK, starting probably on Monday, the Wheeling Super 8 Motel will have MegoMeet once again scheduled for a block of rooms. I have reserved 25 rooms for three nights (June 9th, 10th and 11th) and an additional 15 rooms for two nights (June 10th and 11th). If you reserve under this block, you will get a 10% discount.
We have trouble every year with finding the MegoMeet Contract. When you call, make sure you give the June 9th date and the name either Megomeet or Chris Johnson for them to look up the contract. Then, if you just want the two nights, let them know.
Actually, you all are already behind. Three rooms are already gone - one for me, and rooms 119 and 121 have been set aside for the MegoSuite and the official "MegoSuite Moderator."
Hey, MegoCrazy, up to the job again?

I'll hopefully only be booking one room this year, not the seven I got last time.

Sure, I'll take 119 again.

Since I have the MS shirt artwork almost done I'll post them up early this year but still print them at the end of May. Should have something in a couple of weeks.

Well . . . no reason to put this off . . . due to my neice getting married that weekend I will not be able to make it this year. I would suffer servere and permanent injuries if I followed my heart to Wheeling, alas I'll be bored to tears at various weddding activities.
Rock on and have a brew for me!

Seriously Jim? That sucks. 52 weekends to choose from and they pick that one. What are the odds? :silly:

You will be missed sir. If I don't find employment I won't be there either.

Anybody know of a nice place close by with a pool? My son is excited to go again, but he demands a pool.

Well, either I waited too long or the clerk had no idea what was going on. She found the 40 rooms that were reserved, but said they were all booked. I did get a room though, so see y'all there!

Had my room booked as soon as my vacation time was approved. I didn't wait since I was able to score a AAA discount anyway.

"June" had some difficulty understanding what to do...
I have a conf number...but I will probably check tomorrow to make sure I'm good.

I'm booked - at least I hoped I am - the clerk didn't know how to
put in an e-mail address to send me a copy of the reservation.

I think I will fly in this year.

Did you get one of the rooms that Chris reserved? If so, then the person I talked to really didn't have a clue as I was told those were all reserved. Maybe it's worth another phone call.

yea...she (i thin her name was June) made a reservation usingone of Chris' rooms...just edited his name out and put my name in.

She did have problems...said she was new...didn't understand the system, yadda yadda yadda...I still need to double check today.

I called again a little bit ago and got her, same person, and she figured it out and switched me over. Thanks

Booked my room this morning for me and the boys. Not waiting around. If it turns out I can't make it, it will be easier to cancel than try and book it in May. Have my confirmation number

It was funny. When I told her the dates she said "are you here for May-go Meet?". I said "yes, but it's Me-go". She said "whoops, I've been saying it wrong". I real sweet lady.

I'm interested in coming this year. But I'm trying to compute distance and time to get there. I would be coming from Louisville. A complete address would help me in this task.

ScottA
Feb 10, '11, 1:12 PM
From Louisville it's about a 5 hour drive. I typically hit Louisville around 3-4. I stop at the antique toy mall off I-65 for a bit and then head on. Typically get into Wheeling around 9pm. But that includes stopping for gas and dinner. I'd love to make it in time to go to Hoss' for dinner with the group on Thursday night but it's just too far. But I make it in time for the suite, which is cool.

But the address for the Super 8 is 2400 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003

Thanks Scott! I've been here so long and talked with so many folks, I feel like I know them (just like you). It's about time I met my buds. :smiley13: I do wish everyone would include their forum name on a badge, so I could make associations quickly. I'm thinking about making a shirt.

Yes it is sir. If I can drive 14 hours 5 for you should be a snap.

Feb 10, '11, 1:22 PM
Easy. Mapquest says it will take 5 hours and 35 minutes. I'm certain I can shave AT LEAST 35 minutes off that road trip. Are smokies a problem in West Virginia? I have a radar.

ScottA
Feb 10, '11, 1:28 PM
Well, I knew it was some where around 5.

We are only in WV for like 5 minutes. Wheeling is 5 miles into the state up at the top of it. You will see them in Ohio. They will only be a problem if you get caught. :smiley1:

I am counting the days as well. I haven't been able to make it the last two years for various reasons, but I am there this year. I am taking the Harley and making a cruise out of it. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

ChrisDVM makes the badges we wear for the meet each year. This year we plan to include your real name and your museum id on it. There should be a place to list it when registration for the show opens.

I still don't know 70% of peoples real names here. :googly:

It would be cool to have both names on the badge, if it is not too much trouble.
Kind of: Type3Toys, then John Farley right below that.

I have booked my room for my first mego meet. i am very excited to attend this years meet!
Can anyone tell me if there would be an exclusive figure available, and how to obtain one?
Also, if there are any good bars/resturaunts near the hotel.

Thanks to all,

Mark

That's a great idea! Seeing the forum name allows you to make a quick association, then you can lead in from a more personal point of view using their actual name.

not real sure what's going on here...but I had this 'feeling' today....

I went to Super8 online, ran my confirmation number...yup, no dice.

Tried under my name and Chris Johnson...no dice.

I call em up, and they had no idea about my confirmation number.
She said she had 20 rooms under Chris Johnson, but none started with 665.
She took one of the rooms off his plate, tied my own name too it, still get the discount, and I got a new confirmation number to cover my butt.

I hate to make you guys paranoid...buuuut might double check yo stuff. June was pretty frazzled the day I made my reservation; nice and polite, but pretty unsure of what she was doing. I don't wanna drive 8 hours and not have a room.

If you pre-register at the Mego Meet site I think a badge will be printed for you.
If you just pay at the door I think you get a blank badge and you fill it in yourself. I don't want to discourage anyone from pre-registering. I would rather pay at the door myself. Previous years my name seemed to turn out different. In 2009 my badge said I was Shaun Michaels, (my real name is John Michals), and trust me; the typo didn't get me any better service at the McDonalds. Oh, and wait till you try and get service at the local eateries! You will go home with stories to tell.

Well, it was time to "sit or get off the pot" (boy the difference one letter makes). Registered today and reserved a room at the 8. Laura and I will be there sometime Thursday afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
