The face sculpt is excellent:

But is it just me, or does Marlon look like he's been lounging in his sweats, and put on his robe and combat boots (!) to get the morning paper?

Poor Jor-El. They just can't get his costume right!!!
They also have a nice, new Routh Superman:

Not bad but is anyone still interested in "Superman Returns" toys?

Those are damn cool, BUT, when are they going to release an official Christopher Reeve likeness Superman? Many people want to see it but DC keep draggibg their heels. This would be a perfect opportuinity. If you're doing Brando as Jor-El, you could do a Reeve as Superman as well.

I like the head sculpt and paint-job a lot .....
But the suit looks pretty horrible.
It looks like they used underwear cloth :)
Jorel's suit should be silky or satiny..... ie shiney

Exactly. The material used for the small 5" Mattel Jor-El from the SR line would have been better than this. And I know Jor-El didn't have black boots. He was dressed in white from head to toe (except during the "executioner" scene with Zod and crew).

He needs a codpiece, suspenders, and a bowler.

I don't know if this a bash or not but the headsculpt is too good, it's like seeing your favourite actor in HD and noticing they have acne.
The suit is subject to debate, sure it was shiny silver but the effect refracted white light, so do you do the suit as silver or as white to simulate the movie look?
The boots might just be there for placement, let's hope. It seems a shame to make something this accurate and slip up like that. Medicom does this a lot though, their Phantom of the Paradise has a ton of errors, even when they remade it.

Yes, it's a bit of "over-realism". Brando's face never seemed that wrinkled to me.
I sure hope those boots are for placement. A shiny white/silver material would have looked better than the "scientist in sweats" look here, I think.

Wow, that's amazing. The suit has a lot of flaws, though... not sure if I want to spend $150 on something that can mop up spills.

Regardless of any perceived flaws... I need this. I need this Brando like I need air.
Lord, I'm such a Superman dork.

Looks pretty awesome to me.
If they really wanted full authenticity, they should remember to include Brando's Rolex and some cue cards with his lines from the movie.

I would have liked the Black version when he is passing sentence on Zod......Not bad but not great The S is wrong...$150 no way pass. The Superman although looks alot like Routh is kind of wimpy looking I like the DC direct Body better.
Is There a chance that The criminals will be made?

kingdomwarrior mentioned the "S" is wrong...hmmmm...am I right in guessing that this
is a SUPERMAN RETURNS Brando JOR-EL and not a 1978 based figure---
if so, that would explain the "S" and the fact that, well, you don't really see the shininess
of Brando's costume in RETURNS in the midst of the the overall "gleaming" of his
"holo-visage" appearance...so they can kinda fudge the costume to make it as flat as
head sculpt paint job itself---to be consistent, I mean
Not bad but not great The S is wrong
GREAT catch !!!
I totally missed missed that.
I forgot Jorel's S style was a nod to the old George Reeves B&W days.

and the new one?
looks like a copy of Routh's to me----putting it in synch with the current
franchise---seems like they skipped the notion of the Donner JOR-EL entirely
in that regard.

The Hot Toy's Jor-El appears to have the standard "S" shield you see on most licensing. Routh's "S" is quite different from that. It's wider and shorter, and the top is more rounded.
Of course, Reeve's Superman symbol wasn't exactly like the standard "S" either. The tip of the S has a diagonal slant, and the curves are more round.

Well if i'm correct, when Reeves' show went into colour, DC purposefully changed his S to reflect the current comic version.
So the show (the B&W series) was different than what was presented in comics.
But, it was still nice to see the WEIRD S appear on Jorels suit.
Edited to add
Kirk Alyn's S was very similiar to Georges B&W S.......

Yes Chris---now that you mention it---I see the proportions are a bit
different than the SR "S"---more "traditional"---I guess it was the
overall smaller size of Hot Toys' Jor-el's symbol that made me think "Routh"

I got the Superman from HotToys but was very disappointed with the actual product compared to the pictures before it was produced...sold it again a week later...

Here's a nice review. They worked the kinks out and gave Jor-El a much better suit...and white shoes.

I'm REALLY tempted by these. If only they'd make a Reeve Superman...
