1/6th Dark Knight Gary Oldman and Michael Caine

I just came across these Dark Knight customs online that look like they rolled out of the Hot Toys showroom. It's mind boggling how someone can create something so realistic from scratch.

I'd certainly want these to complete my Dark Knight set!

I don't know if this will work in 1/9th scale, but there appears to be some kind of explanation here about how the realistic skin texture/pores are achieved with these headsculpts?

        Texture stamps.
slap some latex on an orange and there you go.

But those heads look so translucent i suspect silicone could be the material.

You could be right, but I suspect it's the paint. I have the HT Godfather and he has the same translucent quality (layered age spots and very subtle splotches and tonal shifts), yet it's a very hard material.

I know a lot of people would like to see roto-cast Mego heads, but I keep wondering if it's possible to get the same visual effect with paint. If you can get it dull enough and thin enough, and put on numerous coats, it seems like it should refract light the same way that vinyl does. My customizing skills are non-existent, so I'm not one to talk... just wondering if it's possible.

                  AWESOME CUSTOMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went and looked at the thread and I came away with something different. It appears to me that the thread goes on to show how paint is being applied and that the silcone is used as paint stamp to create age spots(3rd layer) and pores in skin. Then that last layer of translusent paint is aplied over texture(4th Layer).

Anyone do watercolors? To get certain textures in a watercolor painting you dip a sponge into paint and stamp it. Old technique for drybrush effects in pen and ink drawings too.

It took me a long time to understand that the reason oil paintings have such great depth is because pigments are trapped in semitranslucent layer and light can effect appearance.

                    I agree on Caine..WOW.

I think the problem with Oldman is the nose is kinda bulbus(?) and not thin and pointy like his is.

Holy S#&%! I love my megos but it would be great to have figures of this quality in 1/9 scales. I'm hoping Zica will take us there.
