    My son loves Young Frankenstein

So I finally bought Young Frankenstein on DVD, and decided to let my son (he's nearly 6) watch it with me. I figure the language is minimal, and the sex stuff will just go over his head. I was right. Although he did wonder why Elizabeth (Madeline Kahn) suddenly liked the monster so much after he abducted her.

Anyway, he stayed glued to the screen for the whole length of the film. And he's been going around saying "Fronken-Steen" for the past 3 days. He liked the "my grandfather's work was DOO-DOO!" line, and is repating it quite often.

I thought this was a good entry level version of the Frankenstein story. All the basics are there, but it isn't scary.

Who says kids don't understand high art?

And just wait until he gets older and understands the subtle jokes.

I still remember seeing Young Frankenstein in the theatre when it was new back in 1974.
I was 9 at the time and my older brother took me to see it.
Man, was I scared when the first shot of Frankstein's skeleton appeared during the credits

My nephew was hardcore into that movie when he was about 5. He's 23 and can still quote that movie, mine was always "High Anxiety" with Spaceballs rolling a close 2nd and History of the World Part One at third! Mel Brooks, what a genius!

                  Gene Wilder was a genius

The Adventure Of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother
                  The Producers
                  Young Frankenstein
                  The Woman In Red
Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory

Gene Wilder basically played the same character in every movie...but what a fantastic character.
And when he sang Pure Imagination it felt like it was.

Young Frankenstein is certainly a classic.
Sounds like he may be ready for the Abott and Costello meet Frankenstein!?

I think he'd like it. He's much less of a weinie than I was at that age. I was traumatized by Lon Chaney Jr.'s transformation into the Wolfman from that movie for years!
