I Know Its Poo, But I Had To Have It Again.

Is there anything, that when you cut through the fuzzy remembrance of nostalgia, you realize it was actually kinda crappy? And DESPITE this, the warm pull of its place in your childhood just made you have to have it again?

There are definitely a couple of things like that for me. One I picked up over the summer I can't wait to set it up this year- my cardboard fireplace!

My wife isn't crazy about this, but she's being tolerant.

Great description- that pegs a lot of my collections.

Incidentially, we had one those fireplaces sometime in the mid 70s!

Awesome Bill. I remember when you posted about this awhile ago. I need to drag out my Empire Santa tonight and put him somewhere that doesn't bug my wife too much

You put up your cardboard fireplace and I'll put up my aluminum Christmas trees. It's all good!

That's actually pretty cool. Does it still light up?
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't put your 7up flicker light on the cardboard mantle.

My friend Tamika had one of those and her folks always put her annual Sears Xmas photo on top.

Since we also had a fake fireplace, (part of the wall unit), I used to believe Santa came through the fire escape in my brother's (Later my) room.To add to the fantasy, my folks rang jingle bells when I was almost asleep.
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
