I think acting as Captain Kirk is 80% attitude, coupled with 20% of the look.

I'm really not sure if ANYONE can pull it off.

I mean, Captain Kirk IS William Shatner.

If this guy or ANYONE DOES act like Shatner he's gunna look like Kevin Pollack

If he DON'T act like Shatner, they'll say he's a dud and is no Kirk.

I think this is going to be a lose-lose scenario for anyone who takes the role.

I know I've brought this up before, but my prime example for recasting a role is David Arquette as Augustus McRae in "Dead Man's Walk", the sequel to "Lonesome Dove". Arquette tried WAY too hard to ape Robert Duvall, and became a cariacture of him.

This poor guy has it even worse, playing an iconic character we've gotten to know over 40 years, and playing him at around the same age we met him as portrayed by Shatner.

I wish these guys luck, and I hope they pull it off. But I have my doubts.

I think he could pull it off,he's a good actor and he's got the look, what else does Kirk really need, now all he has to do is sleep with every single alien female out there and he's good to go

Hmm. Maybe. They'll have to take the "pretty boy" look down a few notches. T1K is correct in saying that Kirk is 80% attitude--never seen this guy in anything before. So that just leaves McCoy out of the big three right? He hasn't been cast yet unless I missed it (entirely possible)

The 27-year-old Pine is one of Hollywood's hottest young actors right now

Yuck, we have a problem. Why can't these uncreative casting people find some unknowns...instead of hip, hot list actors...lame.

                        Lost in space anyone.....
